Those who are the biggest critics of the 2008 farm bill

have downplayed all the necessary money it allocates

for study and research in solving the devastating decline

in our honey bee populations.

Add to that the cost of transporting

the dwindling bee colonies from state to state

to keep much of the food we eat on our tables,

and it appears to be a no brainer.

I've talked to key organizers in the global distribution

of food to the hungry who seem unaware that there

is any correlation between bees and agricultural

production. What good is it going to do to plant

crops if we have nothing to pollinate them?
