More proof that Obama is a fraud and liar regarding the new stance he is trumpeting regarding gun control.

The Illinois Years - Obama's Gun Control Votes

Tuesday, 26 February 2008

April 4, 2001

SB-604

Obama voted against a bill that would have allowed concealed carry by those who had an order of protection issued against another.

You can find his hostility to concealed carry in the transcripts starting on page 100.

May 30, 2002 SB-1936

Made it legal for someone to possess a firearm without an FOID card as long as they were in the direct supervision of someone with an FIOD card. The bill became law.

Obama voted against it.

March 24, 2003 SB-356

From the legislature site:

"Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that the Department of State Police shall publish a list of handguns having a barrel, slide, frame or receiver that is a die casting of zinc alloy or any other nonhomogeneous metal which will melt or deform at a temperature of less than 800 degrees Fahrenheit. Provides that a building used for the unlawful sale of firearms may be abated as a public nuisance only if the person using the building for the unlawful sale has been convicted of the offense and the Department of State Police has published the list of prohibited firearms. Effective immediately."

Obama vote for this bill. It died in the House.

March 25, 2003 SB-2163

Would have lowered the age for FOID card from 21 to 18. The result is that some men in the military are not able to own firearms.

Obama voted against it.

March 27, 2003 SB-947

A "Gun Show Loophole" bill.

Obama voted for it.

May 7, 2003 HB-1096

Would have legalized handgun deer hunting.

Obama did not vote.

May 15, 2003 HB-515

This bill was to notify gun owners when their gun was the subject of records request or search. The bill would have allowed the owner to have his trace information destroyed under certain circumstances. During this time Daley was trying to use trace information to use in gun manufacturer lawsuits.

Obama voted against the bill. It passed but the governor vetoed it.

May 16, 2003

HB-2579

House Bill 2579 evolved from a car "secret compartments" bill to a one handgun every 30 days bill.

Obama goes on for more than a page about this "very measured, modest regulation" on page 120 of the day's transcripts .

Obama voted for the bill.

May 24, 2003 SB-257

A House Amendment would legalize handgun deer hunting.

Obama voted in favor of the House Amendment. He did not vote for or against SB-257.

March 25, 2004 SB-2165

From the Illinois Legislature site:

"Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that it is an affirmative defense to a violation of a municipal ordinance that prohibits, regulates, or restricts the private ownership of firearms if the individual who is charged with the violation used the firearm in an act of self-defense or defense of another. Effective immediately."

Obama voted against this bill twice. It passed anyway. The governor vetoed and the legislature overrode the veto.

I am a member of THE largest group of gun owners in PA, the Pennsylvania Rifle and Pistol Association. Obama/Soros would melt all of our guns given the vote. This group is a front for that cause...our organization gets a big kick out of this...NO ONE we know is a member of this group and we know thousands of gun owners across the state...nice try Soros...

Gary Whitman of PA 8:57PM September 25, 2008

This is all hooey... FYI.... gun owners are not stupid hicks. We see through this completely. Obama is attempting to trick people more gullable than he is into believing a complete fabrication. This group has been flagged as bogus amoungst all gun owners and little will come of it. Just more elitist BS.

Samuel Elliott of TX 6:25PM July 18, 2008

This is baloney ! As a state Senator in Illinois, Barack Obama voted for legislation that would outlaw all gun shops within 5 miles of any school or park. Estimations show that 90% of gun shops would be permanently closed. His agenda is to eliminate right-to-carry laws, bans on handguns, bans on hunting ammo, renewing the Clinton gun ban, start gun licensing and Federal Registry. You would also have to visit a police chief before buying a gun. Believe me, according to the Book of Revelation, he is the anti-Christ. Smooth talking man in his 40's will do us in!! Do not believe the media, vote with your heart and do the research first.

This is an anti-gun group posing as progun. What a bunch of idiots to think we would fall for this garbage. Go back to Brady where you came from a__holes.

It is indeed unfortunate that Mr. Bedard seems so smitten with Obama that he actually lends his pen to point out the so-called "endorsement" of the sham operation calling itself the "American Hunters and Shooters Association."

This entity is anything but pro 2nd Amendment, as it was established by firearms-hating democrats only two years ago to engage in whatever deception and trickery they can devise to demean Americans (and Pennsylvanians) into thinking they know what's best for you "because American citizens are just too stupid to figure it out yourselves" (just like Obama's insultingly "bitter" remarks about Pennsylvanians). Classic liberal elitism, shrouded in false pretenses.

Don't fall for it. The " American Hunters and Shooters Association" should really be called "American Liberals for the Destruction of the 2nd Amendment While Pretending to be One of You Instead." Extremely shameful behavior. Perhaps Mr. Bedard can do some investigative reporting on the deceivers behind it. T-h-a-t would be news worth reporting.

I live in a Canada, a country with a strong socialist history. I also live in a province that has a strong socialist background.

Many good things have been done in the past and will be done in the future but (a big BUT) there is no good reason to tie those goods with gun control.

I will never vote for a government that will take away my freedoms to own and to use firearms.

If you think you have policy that is good, what is the need to shackle it to gun control?

I strongly urge all gun owners of Penn and thruout the country to vote AGAINST HUSSEIN OBAMA . When he was in the ILL Legislature he was the STAUNCHEST ANTI-GUN OWNER in the ILL legislature. He introduced a bill to outlaw ALL GUN OWNERSHIP in the state of ILL. IN fact he has a plan that if he gets in to implement a HUGE tax on all ammo that will be out of reach of all gun owners in america. This man is a staunch SOCIALIST. In Fact neither he nor Clinton are for gun owners at all. PLEASE ck out his ILL record on guns before you vote. I have many friends and relatives in Penn even tho i have never been to your state. Yet i have informed them all on this very serious situation. Please ck out the Montana shooting sports assoc web site. Back in 1776 my Gr grandfather 6 times past was the Captain in the Bucks county Militia under George Washington and i know he would be turning in his grave today if he knew what was happening to his state and people today with all these lies to the good people of Penn.

The endorsement of the Pennsylvania Gun Group is wise and states that Barack Obama is a leader with vision. He has the best initiatives on all issues related to everyone. We need a leader who has a vision and will take back Washington to serve the people and not the special interests. HRC represents the tradition of the Washington establishment. We need a fresh start and change in the White House. Senator Barack Obama is the change we are waiting for. Let's rally around him and win Pennsylvania all the way to the White House. Thanks!!!
