PETA Takes Fight to Col. Sanders's Grave

January 10, 2008 RSS Feed Print

Its members have protested at Kentucky Fried Chicken stores and even burned Col. Harland Sanders in effigy. But now People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is going to the grave to target KFC—actually, Colonel Sanders's resting place, Louisville's Cave Hill Cemetery. Matt Prescott, PETA's anti-KFC boss, has just put up his tombstone three sections from the Colonel. On it is a 16-line acrostic poem, with letters down the left side reading, "KFC tortures birds." Cemetery Superintendent Lee Squires isn't amused and promises to remove the tombstone. "KFC wouldn't appreciate it," he tells us. "That's politically incorrect and basically inflammatory."

"I do believe in the ethical treatment of animals, but using a cemetery as a platform..."

A cemetery is the perfect platform. They abuse and slaughter animals for profit. Not to mention that by eating an animal that's cooped up in a cage so small that it cant even turn around, you're also getting meat that has lived its whole life sitting in it's own excrement. Avian influenza and salmonella anyone? Not to mention that men who eat meat are 3 times more likely to die of a heart attack than men who don't. It seems to me that there couldn't be a BETTER platform than a cemetery.

Again this PETA group has gon way out of control in conveying their message of animal cruelty.

Each and everytime I read something involving PETA I could just scream.

Why on earth take such crazy way out of the box methods to get the message out about animal cruelty?

All it does is make PETA look totally rediculous!

At one time I admired PETA and their causes, but over the last few years, I just can't take them seriously anymore.

This stunt is totally outrageous!
