Those yucksters at the Republican National Committee can't get enough of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards's pricey hair cuts, $6 million home, and likely tax plans. Yesterday they wrapped all of their hits on the former North Carolina senator into an E-mail to 50,000 Iowa supporters that featured a $1 million bill showing the smiling candidate under the title "Johnny Cash."

Well, somehow the E-mail made it to a representative of the singer's estate, who phoned the GOP and politely asked that the title be changed, or at least any reference to the legend be eliminated.

"We're in a ring of fire," joked an RNC official. "They called us and said they had some issues with the trademarks and all. But they were cool about it. I mean, we have the same constituency."

So to smooth ruffled locks, or, um, feathers, the RNC is changing the title to "Johnny Bills."
