King Karl to Stay On
Tweet Share on Facebook January 3, 2007 CommentMaybe it was wishful thinking by his foes or insiders looking to move up to a nicer office in the West Wing, but all those rumors that Karl Rove was planning to exit soon appear to be dead, killed by none other than King Karl himself.
We hear that the top White House political aide, chastened by the huge Republican losses in November, has his spark back and is raring to fight the new majority that takes power in Congress this week. In fact, he's boldly betting that the president will veto any Democratic tax increase.
Rove appeared Wednesday morning at the weekly meeting of conservative thinkers hosted by Grover Norquist, president of Americans For Tax Reform. There, he displayed good humor and his old swagger when talking about the president's plans over the coming two years. He even bet one attendee $5 that President Bush won't agree to any tax increases.
But what many of those in attendance felt was that Rove has no plans to flee the scene anytime soon. Said one: "He sounds like he plans to be around working hard until they turn the lights out."

Links of the Week
Tweet Share on Facebook January 3, 2007 CommentHere's the quiz of the day: Which presidential kid has done well in Hollywood? Well, it's none other than Steven Ford, son of the late president. He did really well on The Young and the Restless but hasn't broken out on the silver screen yet. Check his career at IMDB. How about a former TV star who's returned to the small box? That would be former Today newsman John Palmer, who's hosting shows on the new national cable channel devoted to retirement living, Retirement Living TV. It's not just about 401(k)'s and shuffleboard. This cable is covering news. Want proof? Whispers is going to join Palmer's show, The Informed Citizen. And finally, if you're going to keep up with the new Democratic Congress and incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi's promise to do a lot of stuff in the first 100 hours, you'll need a reference card. Well, here is Pelosi's list.
