George Allen, the Virginia Republican, is interviewing pollsters…Word is that House Speaker Dennis Hastert would be nudged out — or advised to step down — if the GOP loses 10 seats but still keeps the majority. Says one insider: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich "stepped down after losing just five seats."
