STEM Provides Answers for Student Loan Debt

Getting children interested is one thing, but what if that child knows what he/she wants to do with their life. What if that long anticipated career is a social worker? To say that the answer to rising student debt is to work in a field that makes more money is rediculous. Low paying fields are always going to be needed, and those students need a way out also.

I agree wholeheartedly! But what does this say about the teachers who teach STEM and are starting at $35,000 a year?

Great article! True, we should get them interested early, and I see a lot of programs geared to middle school children. But, we need to follow up with them in high school, too. Juniors & seniors are face to face right now with what to do with the rest of their lives. They would benefit most from the content of this article.

This is a very dangerous line of thinking. Biologists with BS degrees earn starting salaries of 33K and are no less important to science than petroleum engineers. Additionally, the goal of science should be knowledge, not profit. And that's the role of government: to provide support for the activities that benefit society, but don't general profit.
