The answer is simple. MAKE HEALTH INSURERS COMPETE ACROSS STATE LINES!! See how car insurers do it? How it's so cheap in comparison?

Force competition, and the Free Market will take care of itself.

Dr. Sam you complain about Justice Roberts political connections but ignore Justice Kagen and her political connections. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

If this mandatory health care is so great why did the Emporer force it down our throats instead of trying to get it put into a Constitutional amendment?

If you are fined for not having health insurance what do you do if you don't have a job? Do I get to pay for your health care while you sit around drawing unemployment for 92 weeks?

If this is "mandatory" how come it will only be mandatory for some people? How come the Pres, Congress and the Unions don't have to be included?

Well, I guess we know how US News feels. You support the power of government to tell me what to buy. Maybe the government will order me to subscribe to your magazine.

The Supreme Court willnot rule on anything you said about health care in your article. All it will do is decide whether or not Obamacare is constitutional, not whether it's a good idea or not. If you think it's a good idea and the Court says it's unconstitutional, change the Constitution or pass a state law requiring health care.

This is not about healthcare it is about the implications of ignoring the constitution in exchange for a making it up as you go along solution. Essentially the author is making the emotional argument that the ends justify the means because being sick and dying is bad. However, being forced to buy health insurance at gunpoint (this is what it is, try not paying the penalty and see what happens) is worse than the "cure".

There are an enumerable number of consequences that come as a result of freedom, and they are all worth it. The left and their emotional "but people get sick" argument ignores all semblance of process. If the healthcare market is so unique and warrants bending the concept of constitutionality, there is a built in constitutional mechanism called the amendment process that was specifically designed to handle such corner cases.

If this law is upheld, I cant wait for the likes of Rick Santorum to get elected and to use the legal precedent to ban contraception to prevent the artificial reduction in the number of active participants in this unique national healthcare market.

Guys its the commerce clause, the man is just regulating activity which affects the market.
