French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, Cécilia, are separating after being married for 11 years. This isn't the first separation for the first couple of France. They split in 2005 but got back together as the presidential campaign heated up. There is no word as to whether the two will get divorced; some legal experts doubt it will happen because the French Constitution protects a sitting president from being hauled into court.
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto made a return to Pakistan today after being exiled for eight years. She is planning a political comeback by campaigning for what would be a record third premiership alongside Gen. Pervez Musharraf, the country's president.
House Democrats look to be still about 15 votes short of being able to override President Bush's veto today for an expansion of the SCHIP program that provides middle-income children with health insurance. Bush said that if the veto stands, it will give him the opportunity to negotiate a new deal for the program with Congress. Democrats have refuted this idea, saying that the bill was already a bipartisan effort.
