Presidential candidate Fred Thompson made his debate debut yesterday at the Republican debate in Dearborn, Mich., where candidates sparred over the economy and trade. "I've enjoyed watching these fellows," Thompson said. "I've got to admit it was getting a little boring without me."

Family members and friends today mourned the two Armenian Christian women killed yesterday in Baghdad by members of the private security firm Unity Resources Group. These latest deaths sparked further outrage against private security companies operating in Iraq.

Often when adults diet, the hardest part is keeping those lost pounds off. Researchers are discovering that the same goes for kids. Scientists from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found that obese children who lost weight kept it off if they were in a maintenance program. However, over time its effectiveness waned and many kids put the weight back on plus more. U.S. News' s Deborah Kotz gave advice on how to win the weight battle with kids in September.
