Clinton and Healthcare, Take Two

September 18, 2007 RSS Feed Print

She tried once and failed.  Touting those lessons learned, Hillary Clinton is trying again. The New York senator and Democratic presidential candidate is taking on healthcare and yesterday introduced a comprehensive plan that she calls "Hillary's American Health Choices Plan," which will surely be scrutinized from now until the primaries.

U.S. News's James Pethokoukis questioned  whether Clinton can pay for her trillion-dollar plan. Part of the plan would be paid for by cost savings and modernization. For the other part, Clinton plans to eliminate a portion of the Bush tax cuts and tax Americans making more than $250,000 a year. However, as Pethokoukis warns, this chunk of change is being eyed for other projects and programs too.

Clinton may have to find another source for her new version of Hillarycare.
