President Bush has nominated former federal Judge Michael Mukasey to replace Alberto Gonzales as attorney general. His nomination is expected to run smoothly through the Senate. Mukasey would take over a Justice Department bruised by Gonzales's three-year tenure.
In a new bout of legal drama for O. J. Simpson, the former football star was arrested yesterday in Las Vegas. Police contend that he was part of an armed robbery in which memorabilia that documented Simpson's career were seized. Simpson's trial for the dual murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman captured the nation's attention in 1995.
In 1994, she tried and failed to introduce a universal healthcare plan in the United States. Now, not as a first lady but as a presidential contender, Hillary Clinton will again tackle the issue by unveiling a sweeping proposal today. The plan will require everyone to carry health insurance and offer federal subsidies to reduce the cost.
