A powerful undersea earthquake shook Indonesia's coastline this morning and had citizens running inland in fear that the quake would create another destructive tsunami. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning for wide areas of the region. In December 2004, a devastating tsunami killed more than 230,000 people in a dozen countries, including 160,000 people in Indonesia.

The CEOs of Mattel, Toys "R" Us, and others will take part in a Senate hearing today on toy safety. This comes after Mattel recalled—for the third time recently—products containing lead paint imported from China. The Chinese agreed yesterday to prohibit manufacturers from using lead paint on any toys exported to the United States.
