Our son-in-law's parents were building a new house and one day went to the construction site. A neighbor didn't know if they were vandals or what and called the police. Our son-in-law's parents explained , thanked the police for being concerned enough to come promptly. That's class! It seems to me that a Harvard professor would have enough class to defuse the situation politely.
