EPA: Spooky String Really Is Horrible

July 10, 2007 RSS Feed Print

As it turns out, Horrible Spooky String actually was pretty horrible.

This morning, the Environmental Protection Agency fined the Target Corp. $120,000 for selling Horrible Spooky String, a string confetti spray that contains banned hydrochlorofluorocarbons, and ordered the retail giant to ship its entire stock of 785,516 cans to a commercial incinerator.

Last September, the EPA issued an order banning several string confetti products imported illegally from China and Taiwan due to their harmful emissions.

Not all string confetti contains HCFCs, the EPA said.
