  • The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency says his organization cannot be certain that Iran is not pursuing a nuclear weapons program due to the country's refusal to cooperate with inspectors.
  • Markets in Europe and throughout Asia continue to drop this morning, evoking fears of a more persistent economic slump than was originally predicted.
  • Iraqi and British troops raided an Iraqi government intelligence headquarters yesterday, where they discovered about 30 prisoners, some of whom appear to have been tortured, the New York Times reports. Meanwhile, a car bomb has killed at least 26 in Baghdad this morning.
  • The Washington Post, which broke the story of widespread neglect of wounded soldiers at the Walter Reed Medical Center, reports this morning that it has been flooded with letters detailing similar abuses at other military hospitals.
