In Iraq, an 'Ugly Battle' for Power Predicted After U.S. Drawdown

The power struggle in Iraq has been going on since the summer of 08. Maliki is attempting to break away from the coalition that kept him in power that consisted of the Supreme Council, Kurds, and the Sunni Accordance Front. He is trying to make a new one to run with in the Dec. parliamentary elections made up of the Sadrists, the Sunni National Dialogue Front, and a few other parties. He is also increasingly clashing with his former allies over federalism and the power of the central government. This will probably last quite some time before things settle. As for a power vacuum, the U.S. will still have strong influence with Iraq when the troops are out. The Iraqi security forces look to the U.S. for help. Iran already has huge political, economic, and cultural ties. Turkey may have sway with the Kurds as well. musingsoniraq.blogspot.com

after america is out of that mess, does any true American really care? George Bush has robbed about 4,000 families of their brave soldiers that gave ALL for these fanatics like George and George and anyone who cowered down in the shadows afraid that America is about to be invaded by a terrosist force large enough to conquer America. My God, all the cowards that fear Afghanistan or Iraq or the entire middle east,please enlist and quit hiding behind these brave young soldiers who are dying over there for your insecurity!YES, bring all troops home, and END STOP LOSS(military slavery) by military NOW! TODAY!

Those who stole it of course prefer to stay there for the rest of it. Is it not shame that while American soldiers are being killed their higher-ranking officers steal this country's taxpayer money? They don’t care for our kids or Iraqis all they have in mind is their own pockets and that of war profiteers who put them there.

It was an ugly battle of power before we went there and it won't matter when we leave next year or ten years from now it will be ugly and lives will be lost. We have lost enough American lives bring them home.
