Obama Plays Golf, Visits the Beach

A seafood dinner ends a day filled with golf, beach trip and Libya.

A spokesman for the White House says President Obama understands that his job is to fulfull his reponsibilities "24 hours a day, 365 days a year." But, as expected, he is spending a lot of time relaxing on his 10-day vacation at posh Martha's Vineyard, an island off the Massachusetts coast. [See photos of the Obamas behind the scenes.]

Obama played golf again yesterday (no news photos allowed), after spending time at the beach with his wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha (again, no pix), and went to a seafood restaurant for dinner.

White House aides, sensitive to arguments that he is at play when there are so many serous problems facing the country, said he received his regular national-security briefings and was updated regularly on the turmoil in Libya. Here's a story from Politico about Obama's vacation. [See ups and downs of presidential vacations.]
