Catholics United: Wrong to Call Us Pro-Abortion Rights

There is No such thing as a Pro-Abortion Catholic Christian. As a Christian I firmly agree that abortion is absolutely and morally offensive because it deals with the killing of human life. However, the problem I have is with the sincerity of all these so call "Pro-Life" Conservatives Republicans who are so passionately using the issue to capitalize from it politically, including trying to kill any form of Health Care by using the power of the bully pulpit. I wish I had seen the so called Neo-Moralist including the North American Council of Catholic Bishops be sincerely involved in the same passionate way when their Republican friends initiated and waged wars and that killed innocent people (men, women and children) around the world in the name of "American Strategic Interest", or when they have funded, trained and armed ruthless dictators so they could conduct their ruthless murderous campaign in South America and Asia. I wonder if these people are downright ignorant, lost their sense of good moral judgment, or are insidiously deceiving themselves and the world. Every form of human life, regardless of whether they be Black, Yellow or Brown are all created by God and deserve the same respect and dignity of Life. No person calling themselves Christians including those who are acting as surrogates of the Republican Party should selectively certain define human life more important than the others

Abortion doctors know there are many reasons why abortion is absolutely necessary for many women. They haven't read about osteopathy--bone diseases, including "Brittle Bone." Disease of the heart, kidneys, lungs, liver & other organs mean sure death if some women go full term. Ectopic conceptions fasten on organs other than the uterus and MUST be removed. Prolife propaganda tells lies with doctored photos or drawings. They show a very early conception as if it's the size of a suckling pig when it's really the size of a lima bean. There is tremendous ignorance on the part of Prolifers, but they do nothing to educate themselves; They invested in After Death Real Estate in Heaven. They want to believe they will collect, after all those years of giving ten per cent. If a woman has diabetes, going full term can put her on dialysis for life and cause amputation of her feet. No wife wants to bear the child of a wife-beating husband. When she's forced to go full term, I blame Prolifers when the man beats her to death and abuses the kid. If there were no paid preaching, Prolife would never exist. Nature is always aborting conception. Only churches prevent full access to this surgery, in violation of equal rights laws.

Its more wrong to call Catholics United - Catholics. The Catholic faith is not a democracy, we do not vote on what we believe, we do not take polls on what we believe. We believe what Jesus taught and the Church has faithfully handed down for 2000 years. If you do not belive it be honest with yourself, because you aren't fooling anyone, and stop calling yourself Catholics. There are plenty of other Christian denominations and some DO vote on what they believe. You should feel right at home.

The Catholic Church supports life from conception to natural death, always has and always will. Abortion is an intrinsic evil. It is more evil than slavery, discrimination, and oppression. Abortion is the deliberate taking of an innocent life at its most vulnerable. There will never be a million unborn march for their right to live. We have to be their voice and their feet.

Abortion is wrong & not only "kills" an innocent child , it oftentimes kills the woman . Mans laws have been wrong throughout history, & laws condoning the murder of these innocent babies is morally wrong & should be done away with. What if a woman is raped ? Well if she gets pregnant she can give that child up for adoption, she would not be able to abort AIDS if she got that from being raped. Why should she abort a human being? I know many try to dehumanize the child ,perhaps to make their conscience feel better, but make no mistake about it , it is a human being & abortion is murder.

I'm sure glad that Martin Luther King didn't have the same attitude that Catholics United has. Their statements seem to be synonomis with "since blacks have always been treated that way, why fight it." Of course we have to fight abortion, as well as bigotry. Their both wrong! We as Catholics, and Christians (or should I say human beings) need to constantly be on the guard for evil and wrong-doing. Abortion is evil and wrong so we must fight. Catholics United may claim to be doing to work in support of the Catholic church, but I would question that.

Its obvious christians do not have the capability or votes to change anything anymore. France is 85% catholic yet abortion is legal there. Italy is 80% catholic but abortion is legal there. I am pro life but not because of the catholic church. Recent statistics indicate that almost as many catholics as the general population in the USA is pro choice. Christianity is losing its mojo in the USA. Christianity has lost its mojo in western europe. Complain all you want, people that vote aren't listening.

Because any time that someone justifies abortion, it means on some level that they believe abortions are justifiable, reasonable, and morally permissable. We all are old enough to know the difference between legal and moral, I assume. So the comment that, "Well, it's legal and we can't change that." is a huge smokescreen. So it's legal. So what? That does not answer to whether or not it is wrong.

Seriously, pick a side and stop waffling. This issue is too important not to have a stance.

I don't think it's fair to label someone as pro-abortion because they would still support a health care bill that fails to prevent federal insurance funds from covering abortions. I myself am anti-abortion but pro-health care, even if it lacks an abortion restriction.

How can I be this way? Because I realize that the premiums that we and our employers pay to insurance companies already fund abortions. Even if you have a policy that refuses to cover abortions as an out-patient procedure (which I have never seen), as long as that insurance company covers it in other people's policies, your premiums pay for abortion. Money you pay to a hospital that performs abortions helps fund abortion. As long as abortion is legal, it's impossible for any American to avoid funding abortion.

So why, in the minds of many Christians, is it okay for insurance and health care corporations use our money for abortions, but not the government? I guess it all comes down to Christians worshiping the Republican Party, who puts big business interests above all else, including the Bible.

I imagine that these are the ancestors of the FAKE Catholics who accepted Slavery back in the day. It was, after all, Legal and since there isn't much we can do about it; we might as well do the best with what we have!!! IDIOTS!!

"I know your works and know that you are neither hot nor cold..."

That should be your organization's mantra Mr. Korzen.

Even a graduate of a "Jesuit" School of Theology should be able to figure out that Jesus is not okay with abortion - the murder of innocents for the sake of personal convenience. I mean it's pretty basic logic, and doesn't require an inordinate level of judgment or reason. To rationalize your "neutral" position you must have resorted to some pretty fancy philosophical footwork.

You and your organization supported pro-abortion politicians; Kerry, Pelosi, Biden, Kennedy, Sebelious etc.. I suspect that alone requires the sacrament of Reconciliation, penance and an Act of Contrition. As a "Catholic" theologian you should know this.

Okay, if you're more serious about abortion than you are about your Catholicism let's confront the "common ground" of abortion like the deadly serious issue it is.

A secular compromise might contain;

1. No more walking into the abortion clinic and saying, "I'm blue, and have a headache." Then being whisked into the abortion room. A mandatory one week "cooling off" period for gathering information and reflection.

2. A woman and her partner (if possible) must view an ultrasound of their baby.

3. Prior to having an abortion a woman must attend a 30 minute class on birth control options and measures, as well as guidance in accepting personal responsibility.

4. Prior to abortion a woman must meet with an adoption counselor and be given information and options regarding adoption.

5. All high school students (with parental consent) must view a film covering the stages of human gestation in the womb - ending with video of the various methods of abortion and disposal of the baby.

Doubtlessly, these measures would reduce the numbers of abortions by simply allowing people to understand their options, as well as the consequences of their selfish, reckless actions.

Now, find your backbone and take a stand.
