Will Today's Election Results Herald a Christian Right Comeback?

A featus is not yet a human being any more than a catipillar is a butterfly. The rights of the mother definetly outwiegh the rights of a fetus. Prevention methods should of coarse be taken but none of them are flawless outside of abstinence. Which goes against human nature. All churches, especially the catholic church have killed plenty of people in god's name and even if one percent of that is truley gods word that is not a god worth worshipping. Even in your holy book itself god is a jealous and controlling god. Whyh would an all powefully being need to prove its own existence through the slaughter of potentially millions of people, as in the great flood? Why couldn't he just tell all of us at the same time, hey this god, I am real, so worship me? Why does he instead enlist only a few people to speak to and then tell them to spread the word to everyone else? Sounds like a pyramid scheme to me. I'm getting a little off topic here so to return to previous comments; the united states still has the highest percentage of religous people, than any other county in the world. And we need to go back to be more religous? That sounds like world domination, just as the bible teaches. For those of you who are upset about the muslims and their mosque in new york and others around the country, keep in mind that they teach the same message. Spread the word of OUR god to everyone. Recently the conservatives have talked a lot about returning to our christian roots the founding fathers intended. The founding fathers did no such thing. They did everthing in their power to seperate religion from the institution of government. That is part of the reason we left europe to begin with. In fact a large majority of the founding fathers themselves were athiests or free thinkers not associated with christianity. We have turned into a christian nation we were NOT founded as one. Let the hate mail begin.

Didn't Jesus teach us to help the poor too? Why is that not as important as fighting abortion to us in the religious right? In our society today is Roe v Wade really the biggest issue?

jeff mccullough of OH 12:03AM November 06, 2009

When Roe v. Wade was passed, there was only one birth control pill available. Science technology didn't have sonography available to show a growing, heart-beating, thumb-sucking baby in it's mother's womb!! Abortion of this life is murder. Ignorance can no longer be an excuse for the murder of innocent lives! How can we expect God's blessings on America when we continue to ignore the sanctity of human life? God blessed Abraham and Sarah with children!! What if Sarah had said, "You know God, I am too old to have this baby. I need to kill it!"

We all wonder how 10 men can rape a 15 year old without anyone calling the police for help. Why doesn't God step in and intervene. Well we need to remember that prayer to God is no longer allowed in schools, the pledge of allegiance has stricken God from its words, God is often no longer printed on our coins, and God is often removed from newly constructed public buildings. Well our country deserves what we are reaping as we have allowed the ACLU and leftist groups to alienate our country from God so that we have given God the message that we don't want Him to Bless and to help us govern our country. The words ring hollow when we say, God Bless America. We even commit murder with the Roe vs Wade act where we consider only the rights of the mother and not the rights of both the mother and child. The child is often a victim and being a human being, has rights.

Are you serious? "Roe V Wade repealed so women are forced to produce tithers".... are you serious... did it ever occur to you that a living being has a right for its mother not to kill it. Oh, thats right, save the puppies kill the babies! God have mercy on us!

The Christian Right always defends capitalism because Socialist states force churches to support themselves. The original USSR Constitution said believers could use existing structures used for worship, but a national church tax was canceled. Believers, having pledged themselves to tithe to pay preachers & pay all costs of worship, soon embarrassed their church leaders. They refused to tithe, preferring to keep assets for themselves, once the new Constitution made that possible. As a result, few or no believers went to church. Preachers had to find other work. After that came loud complaints that the government was persecuting them. Now the USSR is destroyed but it turns out we taxpayers have actually been subsidizing churches here. They take tax exemptions. Parcel numbers of their churches are removed from charts used by county tax recorders. Taxes subsidize their chaplains, paying and pensioning them at officer high pay rate. We pay them to do invocations at civil legislatures, asking God to tell them how to vote. The Christian Far Right opposed the Equal Rights Amendment, denying fair pay for women. It wants Roe v Wade repealed, to force women to produce generations of tithers.

It is more that moderates and independents are voting against the liberal left. DO NOT think that this is the comeback of religious right. Wake up and smell the coffee! The majority of people in this country are middle-of-the-road with a VERY SLIGHT lean to the right.

Sounds like change coming in VA and NJ! You are a fool if you think there is no such thing as a Christian right. Yes we can!

Harold of CO states that the Biden's and Obama's of the world prey on people. If he is truthful, I wonder what his opionion of the Cheney's and Bushs' of the world would be...especially since it was the Bush Administration who not only put us into two wars on a lie, but due to the administration's corrupt, incompetent and unethical behavior, it brought this nation to the brink of disaster. I will agree with his part of the statement that it has nothing to do with one party or the other, since both have proven themselves unworthy of the trust of the nation. And we certainly have seen being Conservative does not mean being ethical. The Republicans have utilized the strategy of "distortion, distraction and disception" while the Democrats have sat there and done absolutely nothing. Both parties are to blame for the state of utter financial wreckage we find ourselves in. Thanks to their incompetent, corrupt and unethical ways. Both parties have created a Congress BY the Corporaton and FOR the benefit of corporate and special interest groups. Our useless, incompetent politicians will never again gain the respect or trust of Americans. We need to rid ourselves of all the old farts who are biding their time to retire. Come the next election I hope and pray the voters will not vote for any incumbent and will be more selective who they pick to represent them. I hope it will be someone younger, more competent and with a whole lot of integrity---of course, with TERM LIMITS. We definitely need term limits on all politicians so we are rid of them before they learn to 'game the system.'

what's funny is that the same 'brighty brights' that label a person 'delusional' for a belief in God... or as they would say, a belief in 'fairy tales', are the same people who claim that there's a 'vast right wing conspiracy'. These are the folks that will post crap like "the Christian Right is NEITHER Christian NOR Right" as if this mythical group (the Christian Right) is any more 'real' than the god they mock others for believing in.
