Dear Brian - before you try and communicate on blogs perhaps you should look up the word sarcasm. Or wait till your understanding of communication evolves a bit more.

I find it interesting that no one is able to respond to complexity (and/or information) happening by accident. Because there is no answer, mind boggling information and structures do not happen by accident regardless of your silly little rantings.

Dear comment posters,

Please try to understand that the idea evolution = atheism is an entirely false dichotomy. Most world religions don't have any issue with the obvious facts contained within the theory of evolution. Indeed most world religions are actually quite comfortable with the idea of allegory in religion. The ones that do have a problem with evolution are those fundamentalist sects of Christianity and Islam that insist on the absolute literal truth of their holy book, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary. Millions of Christians are perfectly content with evolutionary theory, so what's the big deal?

Also please stop the appeals to ignorance. A personal inability to understand such subjects as cell biology, the biochemistry of DNA and common descent* do not equate to arguments against evolution.

Thank you Dr Scott for an accurate and compassionate response. I join you in hoping that Mr Comfort will explain the real reasons behind his intended omission of several chapters. In fact it would be nice to know, given that money is apparently no object now, why he didn't simply hand out free copies of the real Origin of Species along with a copy of one of his own books and allow the reader to make up their own mind.

"If it's all a lie, why do you get so bothered? You don't vehemently argue for the absurdity of belief in Santa Claus. Why argue against the Bible if it's all a bunch of fairy tales? It's because you are banking your eternity on your beliefs, and you are hoping against hope that the Bible is wrong."

The reason is because unthinking christ-bots like yourself want your tripe taught in public schools. But this argument will never get anywhere until you silly superstitious fools get it through your head that not everyone is as terrified of dying as you are. You want to go on and on and on. As Mark Twain put it; "I was dead for billions of years before I was born and it didn't inconvenience me in the slightest."

I hear the same old garbage from angry evolutionists on all the blogs. Claiming there evolution cult to be scientific fact. I call it a cult because it takes some truth then mixes it with foolish conclusions and wishful thinking. I am not sure if most are just liars or parrots continually repeating the same rhetoric and misinformation they hear or read. Most are lacking in the smallest hint of any critical thinking but just devouring the misinformation as if it were a delicacy. The bottom line is that many claimed "facts" of the cult of evolution are just simply lies or philosophically explaining away what the true facts clearly point to. Simply study the complex structure with the equally complex genetic information of a cell and no one with half a brain would consider it to have happened by accident. In the same way only a loon would think that a computer with its complex programs happened by “chance”. For all you readers if you are looking for the truth, don’t read the evolutionists books with all there ludicrous conclusions, just study the complexity of the cell and you will be able to see for yourself the truth. Most of these people on these blogs are simply parroting the foolish conclusions of the cult of evolution because they don’t want to acknowledge God. Don’t join the evolution cult without critically considering the facts. Were you created or did you evolve from a fern? LOL!!!

"Simply study the complex structure with the equally complex genetic information of a cell and no one with half a brain would consider it to have happened by accident."

Blogger from Ohio, you couldn't have said it better. It's true. Creationists are functioning with only half a brain. And it also disproves Rays silliness about not being able to function with half an eye. But you're very wrong in the next sentence.

"In the same way only a loon would think that a computer with its complex programs happened by “chance”"

Actually only a major loon such as yourself would compare an inanimate object (computer) with something that is living and think they've made a point.

I know you're really angry that your myth continues it's slide towards irrelevance. You are welcome to remain completely ignorant and you can also try to convince people that the only way is to ignore reason and logic and facts and just say god did it over and over.

"You don't vehemently argue for the absurdity of belief in Santa Claus."

Is anyone accusing scientists of "censoring" others for saying that Santa Claus isn't real? Is anyone telling absurd lies about both science and scientists in order to have Santa Claus taught as science in school? And can you think through this crucial difference, Steven, or are you as interested in promoting ridiculous comparisons as the ignorant Ray Comfort does?

The fact is that if Wiccans were trying to get their beliefs taken as science, people like Ray Comfort would be quick to oppose it. When scientists try to keep the lies of IDists and other creationists from being dishonestly taught as science, the original lies about science and scientists are compounded by disanalogies with Santa Claus, and other extremely poorly-thought out nonsense is used to avoid the fact that Ray Comfort is spewing long-answered garbage in order to deceive people about the issues.

Well done, unfortunately Ray was never looking for evidence. He just wanted a new forum to spout his creationist nonsense and knock down a few straw-men, and in that respect, he won.

You're equivocating. Faith as in religion is a completely different definition than the"faith" as you use it, or trust as I use it in the process that is science. That's not a very honest way to argue.

Science is a process that's very base is the self checking nature. Scientists make their name by not only making discoveries but by exposing other scientists mistakes.

The Theory of Evolution is one of the most tested theories out there and all new discoveries support the theory not take from it. Yes it gets modified but that is how science works.

What is blatantly clear here is that there are a number of the commentors who don't have a grasp on how science works. That's not surprising considering we're discussing Ray Comfort.

Rev. BigDumbChimp of SC 2:19PM November 03, 2009

Ray Comfort is the master of the Straw Man Argument. Why argue against facts when you can make up your own opponent in your imagination and then argue against it? It's a bit more of a creative process, but overall it's WAY easier!

Jason of CO 2:14PM November 03, 2009

This is a religious debate from both sides. Creationists argue from the authority of God's word. Evolutionists argue from the authority of "Studies" They put their faith so-called "evidence." which really becomes a whole lot less solid when the presuppositions are removed. It is a matter of faith for everyone involved. We weren't there in the beginning, so each of us has to make a falliable decision as to who we are going to believe. This is a faith based decision no matter what side you are on.

This is clearly a religious issue for the creationists involved because they get so offended, and as usual resort to namecalling. (Village IDiot, peewee Kiwi, bananna boffer bozo, no nipples?) Are those your professional opinions Doctor? Real mature I must say. Or could it be that you are basing your eternal destiny on your beliefs, just the same as us creationists. If it's all a lie, why do you get so bothered? You don't vehemently argue for the absurdity of belief in Santa Claus. Why argue against the Bible if it's all a bunch of fairy tales? It's because you are banking your eternity on your beliefs, and you are hoping against hope that the Bible is wrong.
