Two weeks before Sarah Palin's memoir hits bookstores next month, possible 2012 presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee is publishing a new volume of his own: A Simple Christmas: Twelve Stories That Celebrate the True Holiday Spirit. Huckabee's already taking presale orders—and orders for leather display boxes and for signed, numbered versions of the book that include certificates of authenticity.

A new Rasmussen poll has Huckabee edging out Mitt Romney in a one-on-one Republican primary.

Huckabee's yuletide TV ad in the 2008 presidential race, above, made him something of a Christmas candidate the last time around. Doing publicity for Simple Christmas will give him an opportunity to connect with voters in a warm and fuzzy and decidedly nonpolitical way, which could help reinforce his likability in a potential matchup against the less cuddly Romney. Very Oprahesque.

From Boley: "I look forward to the debates between Romney and Huckabee"

Though Romney is a good debater, if you go back and watch the debates for the '08 election, it was Huckabee that did the clock cleanin', not Romney.

It will be much worse for Romney in 2012 (If things don't change, which they will!). Romney supported TARP, Huckabee did not. Romney has Romneycare with its mandatory insurance, Huckabee does not. Huckabee has backed Rubio in Florida, Romney has not.

Look for Romney to move back to the left (again) in the months ahead, in hopes of taking the leftovers (and I do mean LEFTovers) from Huckabee and Palin.
