All sins can be catagorized as a "choice." Pedophilia is also medically noted as a biological 'fact', yet self-denial leads to sanctity. Sin is not justified by our limited medical understanding. If that were the case then there would be no fidelity in marriage because we couldn't control who we were atracted to.
As for everyone who is quoting scripture to justify picking and choosing your beliefs, that is why Christ established His Church, to be a current and present voice in scriptural interpretation. I guarantee the man who read of a laundry list of Old Testament sins has never carefully and fully read the whole Bible.

All True to words of man thus dictionary,Gods words scripture, Truth. To be Born again. Blind but See..Opposite but true.Take this and use dictionary word for word of Bible tells all truth. Gods Thuth, Mans Truths opposite yet the same? ya is na and na it ya. In time, all belief change? I'm sorry for so many of our Catholic & Christian brother's & sister's that seem to be in this positon for having to decide on whom their alligence & concious resides. It is, however, sad to see so many make a decision that is against your religious beliefs. Your spirit is willing but your flesh is weak! It's ok the Lord is understanding and is kind and merciful!

Cafeteria Christian? I'm assuming then that you follow the Bible exactly? So it's ok for me to sell my daughter into slavery? What if I want to work on the Sabbath? Touching the skin of a pig makes you unclean...so can Notre Dame still play football? What about planting crops side by side, should we kill some farmers? And do you eat shrimp Steve, because that's an abomination too.
I sure hope you're including yourself in cafeteria Christians, because, America would look a lot uglier otherwise...

This is just another example of the "Cafeteria Christians" that are out there. They pick and choose whatever they want and leave the hard stuff out.
Sorry, Faith does not work that way. In America, it is easier to say "yes" than it is to say "no". If you want to be a Catholic, you must believe what the Church teachs. If you don't, then you are not.

It sure seems to me that if everyone gets to vote on the constitutional rights of same-sex couples, why not let everyone vote on the rights of the leadership of the Catholic Church - and for starters, perhaps questioning why the state should recognize any marriage that had been performed by one of their thousands of sexually abusive priests over the years, particularly when the Church purposely covered up those heinous acts.a
But since the law passed by the legislature in Maine specifically protects religious organizations in the performance of their ceremonies, the massive campaign by the Catholic Church (aided, no doubt, by the forever meddling Mormons) smacks of an attempt to limit the religious rights of those outside their churches and the state's constitutional obligation to not favor the religious beliefs of any one group. The issue of civil recognition of same-sex couples in marriage is simply not the domain of the Catholic Church. Since the Church doesn't have to recognize said couples (just as it doesn't recognize the divorces of some heteros) the leaders of this Church sound increasingly like a dictatorial cabal attempting to use their interpretation of Church doctrine to dictate property, medical, and interpersonal rights to everyone else.
It shouldn't surprise anyone that the same hierarchy that willingly engaged in criminal deception and a coverup of their own massive sexual abuse scandals would attempt to claim some moral arrogance to remove rights from non-Catholic citizens. It seems part-and-parcel of their whole little mythological moneymaking scheme, one that is perpetuated through fear and bribery in return for blind devotion to the dictatorial leadership. Heterosexuals have known about the innate hyprocrisy for decades, from the Church's willingness to refuse to perform c-sections (thus allowing a mother to die) to their unwillingness to approve certain heterosexual marriages. And like most free citizens, those who the Church refuses to marry often just walk right out and go to the justice of the peace - or another denomination - and get married. So where is the Catholic Church's uproar about this practice? Where is the Church's referendum drive to prevent those "unholy" unions?
I hope the group fighting this referendum keeps running this ad over and over again. That lifetime Catholic parish member is certainly more in touch with reality than the wealthy elite running the Church.

You didn't defend your argument well by using a source that lacked credibility. If you believe it is correct and not afraid to tell the truth, then give a list of those screens. I am standing by the text of Scripture concerning David and Jonathan. We don't give life. Why should we take it in abortion? God doesn't have a body. The phrases you quoted are metaphors. The Hebrew language, and therefore the Old Testament, was a descriptive language. The speaker was constantly trying to create a picture in the minds of the readers so that the message could be understood.

The Catholic Church often likes to describe itself as a body, with the leadership of the church representing the head, and the laity representing the body.
CatholicVoteAction.org President Brian Burch, and much of the leadership of the Catholic church, is tragically out-of-touch with the body and the heard of the Catholic church, the head is in conflict with what the body and the heart know is right and moral.
