misconceptions: man knows more than God,abortion is nothing more than a piece of meat taken from life just like a dog, that the nazis. were the only ones trying to have a perfect looking society. You people might want to look at this from a different perspective?

Try listening to other view points and possible situations/problems liek the one I posted below. It's not as simple as you put it. Abortions are not just accidental pregnancies, they are sometimes (and often) very NECESSARY medical procedures. It needs to be covered like any other life saving procedure should be.

Also, "god's will" and "god's great plan" are terms to be left out of political decisions for a plan that covers citizens of a SECULAR COUNTRY. It doesn't mean its wrong to feel those feelings, but they can't be the basis for governmental policies for the shear sake that we allow all religions and non-religions here, so there are endless interpretations of "god's will".

It sure looks like Catholics don't agree with their bishops:

I am not PRO abortion chosen as some casual matter of convenience. But having your Catholic bishops mouthing off about this endlessly in an attempt to prevent "Christian" America from catching up morally to what the rest of the world already knows on health care----is nuts. If they won't put a sock in it, we need to simply over-ride them.

The White House is actively engaged in a political smuggling operation -- an attempt to achieve funding of elective abortion by the federal government, cloaked in smokescreens of contrived language and outright deception. There is no current federal law that would prevent the new programs created by the pending health care bills from paying for abortion on demand -- and the White House knows this full well. Only language written directly into the bills would prevent government funding of abortions -- but such language has been blocked by the Democratic chairmen of five congressional committees, with White House cooperation, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is refusing to allow the House to even vote on adding a true Hyde Amendment to the health care bill.

The motivation for the ongoing White House deception is found in three recent national polls that show strong public opposition to government-funded abortion: http://www.nrlc.org/AHC/AHCPollsSummary.pdf

The pending bills each contain one or both of the following components: (1) a nationwide government-run insurance program, "the public plan," and (2) programs that would subsidize health insurance for tens of millions of Americans.

Under the House bill (H.R. 3200), as amended by the Capps-Waxman Amendment, the public plan would be explicitly authorized to cover elective abortions. The public plan would be a program within the Department of Health and Human Services. As a federal agency, the public plan could not possibly pay for abortions with anything other than federal funds.

In 2007, Barack Obama stood on stage alongside the president of the nation's largest abortion provider, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), and promised that his health reform legislation and his public plan would cover abortion. (This assertion was recently reviewed by PolitiFact.com and rated "true.") You can watch a short video clip of Obama making the promises here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqww8jmizug&feature=player_embedded

When senior congressional Democrats suggest that the public plan would pay for abortions with 'private funds,' they are engaged in a deception, a political hoax. The public plan would be a program operated by a federal agency, which by law can spend only federal funds.

A woman is born with a uterus which is empty until she "chooses" to participate in God's great plan for LIFE by having sex with her husband. At that time, participating with God and with God's will, she is filled with life and at the conception of that life, he/she is valid, a person and has the right to be protected. That human being is not a glob of cells nor is it just tissue! That Human Being has the rights that YOU ALL are willing to remove from him/her while you promote the cause of PITA and protecting the egg of an eagle!! Get over yourselves! A woman has a purpose and she also has a choice. have sex, give life - don't have sex, don't give life! THAT IS CHOICE: SELF RESPECT = SELF RESTRAINT!

When Ban-Abortion Reagan was President, many newspapers published my Letter to the Editor. He had surgery to remove polyps, as I recall. I asked why he could have "unwanted tissue removed," but he wanted to prevent women from having abortions to remove unwanted tissue." Oh, what a hailstorm of angry letters appeared in the same papers!! I was the Devil, corrupting morals, bound for Hell. Over the years, I've seen references to the phrase I used "unwanted tissue." It's accurately describes body parts removed by abortion & the argument is still valid. What gave Reagan the right to have his health improved by surgeons, yet he acted as if he were a king with a divine right to medical care. As time passed, I came to believe my letter had offshoots that aided the feminist movement. Women began to demand abortion. At last, in l973, Roe v Wade forced the government to stop enforcing church law that bans abortion. I close by asking "How do Prolifers know it isn't part of God's Great Mysterious Plan to have some conceptions end by abortion? He, giver of Life, is supposed to decide when it ends.

I add to comment of "Rational" by giving reasons for abortion. Some women are too old or too young to safely be mothers. For bone diseases, see "Osteopathology" & "skeletal development." Brittle Bone explains itself. For kidney disease, see

"Phrenology,'" Heart disease? Cardiology, etc. Prochoice doctors know why all women must be protected from being crippled or killed by pregnancy. Prolife doctors may know the reasons, but they believe abortion is a sin, punished by excommunication. That means no access to confession & forgiveness. It means Hellfire. But here's good news. Christ told people that when they accept Him, something magnificent happens. Instantly & personally, Christ forgives their past, present and FUTURE sins. He promises they go to Heaven to be with God & the Saints. I hope this promise from Christ gives comfort to believers & lets them decide family size. If Prolifers worry about tax cost to fund abortion, let them recall how much tax revenue goes to poor unwed moms or poor big families for welfare, ADC, food stamps & subsidized housing. Isn't it better to save taxes by helping to let people have few or no children, as they choose?

Abortion is a medical procedure, so why wouldn't it be covered by healthcare?

Say a women is 7 months into a pregnancy when her doctor discovers that the fetus has a disease. The baby will die before its time to deliver the child and the delivery of the dead fetus could pose harm to the would-be mother, not to mention the disease itself could spread. So the doctor sends the woman to a late-term abortion doctor to abort the fetus and save the woman's life.

Sounds like a pretty traumatic experience for a mother who WANTS to have a baby and finds out this tragic news, right?

So, now to make things worse she shows up for the procedure and OOOPS....it's not covered by her gov't healthcare plan (which she had to take because she's a lower-middle income family with an employer (like mine) who does not assist in providing coverage).

Because a some religious clerics who she's never met think they know what is best for her (ones who pay no taxes by the way), she now has to deal with dollars and cents at a time when she should only be concerned with her health and emotional well being.

Kudos you self-righteous phony whackos. Another woman fallen prey to the male dominated religions cretins.

Rational Rationale of CA 8:04PM October 08, 2009

Catholics are church employees who depend on tithes. Women are the sole source of ongoing generations of tithers. The church believes each conception is a potential believer who will pay the enormous 10% tithe. If a person pays 40 years on a steady annual income of $40,000, the dollar vaiue is $160,000. If a conception is aborted. the Bishops hate to think about losing that much income. Before we were stuck with so many praying Presidents, it was illegal for tax-exempt churches to take political action. Now, they're the biggest SPECIAL INTEREST lobby. Pres.Grant said

"Tax churches or they'll own everything."
