Response to David Taylor's comments

This is a new one on me, what exactly is Responsible Intellectualism ??

Going along with the latest "fad" ? Who gets to decide what's "responsible"?

Just because you may not believe in a literal 7 day creation or perhaps even in God in general - after all that is ridiculous considering the odds that life was probably "seeded" here by aliens of some advance world we have yet to discover (Dawkins, Gould)

Ya - I see your point that is MUCH MORE INTELLECTUAL AND RESPONSIBLE SCIENCE !

Its too bad Einstein didn't go to college or perhaps he wouldn't have been sooo stupid and ignorant !

Just as not many stick around after a game to debate the outcome, most people are satisfied with the timing of world records; times of sunsets and high tides. There are many things that are not up to interpretation. To attempt to convice me that my life involves nothing more definite than birth and death, says alot about the way you choose to live your life. You experience a little bit of eternity everytime you lie your head on your pillow. You just never wake up. Vengence for the wronged, golden gutters for the poor, mansions for the homeless, life for those who've squandered theirs - that is a fantasy.

Honestly, this seems like a bad joke. Having faith and practicing religion does not mean that you can't hold value in the theory of evolution. The bible is full of metaphors, and actually saying that the world was created in 7 days is ludicrous. Grow up and stop defacing history, modern thinking, and responsible intellectualism. Evolution is happening, every day. There is a ton of proof.... and if you really think that it isn't... feel free to stop reaping the benefits of years of evolutionary science... such as the flu shot.

They are lying. They aren't republishing Origin, they have left out significant chapters necessary to Darwin's argument.

Unfortunately, reality is also subjective - based on perception of a current situation - individual realties do not equate to collective fact - the interpretation of scientific data is as much a subjective art form as art itself.

To "believe in" scientific data is individual reality (subjective interpretation) just as any other "belief" or "religion" - theories are made through the subjective ideals of someone's quest for something definite. Unfortunately, the only definite is that we were born and we will die - BUT because no has been able "prove" they have or have not experienced life before birth and after death, we will most likely find these are not final either!

Actually, men don't have one more rib than women. That is an extremely outdated Creationist claim, rejected even by such groups as Answers in Genesis and ICR

Mike of NY 6:07PM October 30, 2009

Do not be fooled by this new book. Any rational and intelligent person can understand Evolution, it is a theory, yes, in the full scientific sense of the word, not the literary meaning. Scientific theory is equivalent to fact.

Sorry for the mix up in my earlier comment, my bad. Why do men have one less rib than women?

Thanks, Harry Judge for those interesting words.

Note, there is vastly more evidence that Elvis is still alive (many many MANY more eyewitness accounts, all 2000 years more recent) than there is evidence that Christ "rose on the third day".

The ONLY thing that gives your Bible quotes meaning is your belief in them. Evolution isn't about "belief", it's about "reality".

"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."

But don't take my word for it - go ask one of the these 12,000 Christian CLERGY that accept evolution as a foundational truth of our origins:

If any man is in Christ he is a new creation. Old things are passed: behold, all things are new (2 Cor 5.17). Explain this.

You can't because it is a mystery, however, I can explain to you how it occurs. When one has the gospel (good news) preached to them and they believe on Christ they become born again. This is outside the realm of science so don't ask for it to be proved.

The whole clux of the creation argument is whether or not God is. It's foolishness to them who perish for the natural man cannot receieve the things of the Spirit, therefore it is futile to try to argue with an atheist about Darwinism. Just preach the gospel to them and let it save them, by asking them if they have heard the good news and telling them - "Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose the third day." The ground is level at the foot of the cross.
