God gives us all the gift of "free will" when we come here...and he never interferes with how we use it. There are many contradicting stories/references in the Bible...it is a book for man, written by man...I take it for nothing more than that. It has good ideas such as the Ten Commandments, the Psalms, the Proverbs, the Beatitudes, the Good News of the Gospels...all great examples of what one might do to be a better person on this earth. Those are the things I follow to help me in my journey here. Jesus also said that "vengence is mine", to render unto Ceaser what is Ceaser's and unto God what is God's." I see that as a responsibility to pay my taxes and should the Government use that to "socialize care" for those in need, when the public will not aid the less fortunate...then I see that as nothing more than a Christain responsibility which Jesus gave us when He said that "what you do for the least of my children, you do for me." He also said, "to those whom much is given, much is expected." We have moral responsibilities to all we live among and one is to aid those in need...whether I do it on an individual basis or through the Government which MY taxes support, it makes no difference to me.

Christians must fail to read their bibles, because if they did, they would see God loved killing thousands of Children. Jesus grandpappy David dashed thousands of babies against rocks and killed all men women and children, except for, get this, virgins, which were taken by David to be raped. Moses violated the THOU SHALT NOT KILL commandment 3000 times when he had his own people slaughtered by swords. Ask a Christian Birther about these atrocities, and they will proudly say "THEY DESERVED IT BECAUSE THEY WERE INFIDELS", the same excuse Osama Bin Laden used for 9-11. I for one am sick of the US Christo-Taliban acting like they care for human life. The Christo-Taliban care nothing for life. They only want to subjugate, violate, to try to turn the USA into Talibanistan.

He Joined eyes wide open an administration that champions the MURDER of the innocent - if he had Faith in God he would NEVER have gone near such an Political Cult for Death - Now he champions his ego - Children are being ripped apart from their Mother's womb and he claims Faith in God - Your Pathatic

Your quotation of Mark 10:21 *disproves* your statement that "Jesus and the Apostles were Socialists". This quote implies that, after selling my properties, *I* should give my money to the poor. Not that I should give it to the government to distribute as they see fit, but that I *directly* give money to the poor, the poor that I judge need it, and not giving that task over to some government that is so easily corrupted and whose decisions seem to be driven by power (or maintaining power).

There is, as the Ceasar quote rightly shows, a legitimate role for government, but I believe in subsidiarity (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subsidiarity), and rightly (I think) question the ever increasing size of our government. In fact, I do not recall any stories where Jesus said to join the government's efforts to feed the hungry, clothe the poor, help the sick, etc., etc., do you?

Well, Frank (aside from the fact that I have no clue why the President of the United States has a "Faith-Based" advisory council) I struggle to think of ONE positive contribution to this country that a right-wing fundamentalist Baptist could possible make.

OMG! "...they need to be true to the Bible or some other holy book about what makes a man a good father." Oh, is THAT what makes a man a good father... some collection of ancient fertility myths from a time when it seemed important to keep sand out of your foreskin?

I adamantly protest the very existence of the "Faith Council" on the basis that it violates the separation of church and state. The Freedom from Religion Foundation has a lawsuit in the works that has the promise of bubbling up to the SCOTUS. Since it does exist, this Page fool should shut up and listen. He's a bureaucrat, now, and if he wants to keep his job he needs to get busy managing the business of executing the law as it exists, not as he'd like it to be with his absurd "policy recommendations."
