Shouldn't people be able to make up their own minds? Real freedom? Catholics believe one thing, others believe something else. Seperation of politics and Church would be sound for this topic too.

Why can't women make up their own mind with freedom of choice? You'll only have to be sure she can make an educated decision like the article states. Seems to me that there are situations (rape victims, girls still at school ea.) where having children is sad for the women and may harm the future of the child because their mother hasn't matured herself yet.

What Mr.Obama is trying to make rare is opposition to his Health Care horror, HR3200. Rat out your neighbors program, Goons-R-us paid supporters, slander of citizens expressing concerns at town halls, happy talk about the bill with much specious reasoning thrown in on controversial specifics.

The fact is that the abortion mandate is set to trample your freedom of religion by forcing your church to pay for abortions through the required pastoral health plan. Is tax payer abortion likely to decrease the 1.5 million exterminations already taking place yearly? The intimate involvement of the IRS as enforcer/administrator in your life should pretty much settle up the rest of the Bill of Rights, including free speech opposing abortion in this wonderful system.

Aborting the unborn is murder, killing innocent people -

Our courts today try murderers and sentence them to life in prison. Why do women who are pregnant and choosing abortion and doctors performing abortion, not get tried in a court of law for murder, killing the baby (child), Person who cannot speak for themselves. In a court of law an advocate is given for those who cannot speak or help themselves. A court appointed lawyer is given them. The only help for America is to return to the laws given in the Bible, you can like it or hate. Purity, and chastity and a pure heart is the only way to stop unplanned pregnancy.

The conscientious use of birth control will go along way towards making abortion rare. The vast majority of Americans do not buy into the nonsense that only marrrie people can or should have sex. That is simply not the reality of how people live. It is a particular religious view that the conservatives have no right to force on others, directly or indirectly, regardless of how convinced they are that they are correct. A responsible parent puts her teenage girl on the pill and gives condoms to teenage boys and insist that they use them. Everyone needs to make a decision whether or not they are parent material. Unless one is ready, willing and able to raise children and pay for their support in a two-parent home, the responsible thing to do is to get surgically sterilized, which is what I did when I was 21. If the anti-abortion movement were serious about its beliefs, it would promote birth control with enthusiasm. But unfortunately its sex-is-only-for-marriage nonsense gets in the way. They are not going to make real progress in preventing abortions until they jettison that nonsense and start operating sterlization clinics and handing out condoms, pills, IUDs, foam, hormone patches, and whatever else is needed to prevent unwanted pregnancy. There is NO need for Americans to reproduce. Those who want to parent can find many children awaiting adoption in this country and elsewhere.

Thank you for bringing these facts together. Had I not read this, I would have still been giving mental ascent to Obama's lip service. It sounds really good. Make and use birth control everywhere. Let that be the solution to abortion. Stop the market for it.

Let women be in charge of their own bodies while their bodies are still their own dominion. Once a child moves in, that is someone else's space for nine months. Then you can give it away for adoption if it is in yours or your child's best interest. That is pretty accomodating.

Earlier someone said protect the life of the mother and baby. True, what about the mother having her baby aborted? Protect her?

Probably done without the one that impregnated her, her choice, knowing what is going on or knowing that he is the father of a baby about to get executed for being a baby with the wrong mother!

AREN'T YOU GLAD YOU WERE BORN AND NOT ABORTED, ALL YOU MOTHER'S OUT THERE KILLING YOUR UNBORN BABIES!!!
