Love your tactics Gilgoff. Don't talk about what is or isn't real, just leave an open-ended question about "why the White House is silent on abortion" hanging out there to fuel myths and rumors. Classic right-wing stuff "appeal to the uneducated, unwilling to find out more, vote by messaging and fear not facts Rovian strategies"

I pray God will give people good sense or that Democrats will become as good at exploiting fears as the right-wing radicals.

Sick!

Hi Let me get this straight. Abortion is bad.....but denying health care to people in order to make millions is ok

Lulu Smitz of DE 5:51PM August 15, 2009

As a mental health professional who for the last 30 years has treated women following abortions, women who have given up children for adoption, and scores of unwanted children, I have become a firm believer in the following.

1. Abortion is quite safe for the woman

2. Most have grief, some have regrets but most in hindsight feel they made the right decision.

3. Children have a right to be wanted.

4. Aborrtion remains a lousy, last-ditch method of birth control but having an unwanted child is not much good for anyone- the child, the woman, and society.

I have strong reservations and concerns that health care reform will be hijacked be big pharma, insurance companies, and the trial lawyers. I believe Barak Obama is being highly pragmatic in not mentioning abortion and further polarizing the debate.

To Jerry - Sure they've thought that far - at least Obama has. His record on POST-birth abortion has been very clear. ObamaCare does cover abortions with our tax dollars. And of course they are voluntary - very rare cases are involuntary and are only performed if the mother's life is at risk. Besides, a lot of our tax dollars are poured into Planned Parenthood for abortions already. We can only imagine what will be provided to our kids in the government established school based health clinics. School officials can already take our girls from school to get an abortion without parental notification.

In the bill, the word 'abortion' is suspiciously absent in the sections that imply it.

Pg 769 3-5 Nurse Home Visit Services - “increasing birth intervals between pregnancies..."

Pg 770 SEC 1714 Fed Gov’t mandates eligibility for State Family Planning Services.

This entire bill is wrought with moral dilemmas, and the battle is obviously a war of worldviews. This is why so many protesters at town hall meetings are insulted by their elected officials attempting to convince them that this plan is "in their best interest". We still need to fight for the best interest of the pre-born.

Barack Obama is attempting to take money out of everyone's paycheck so that he can put people on abortion covered "health" plans. We are all suddenly being forced to drive women and their babies to the abortionists, and pay for all the travel and upfront costs. Where is the freedom? Please be respectful of people's beliefs and remove any and all relationship between abortion and the proposed health care plan. Be a decent human being President Obama.

Bottom line on Obamacare: if this big government scheme is so good, then why did Congress exempt itself from it?

If Obamacare is not good enough for Congressmen and THEIR families, it's not good enough for us and OUR families.

JUST SAY NO!

Dave of NV 5:21PM August 12, 2009

Members of Congress are pressing abortion as a covered item, see what happened Thursday, July 30, 2009 in the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Charles of CA 4:46PM August 12, 2009

With all the town hall meetings that have produced a large negativity to the reform health care bills before congress, how many of each member of congress's constituents does it take to have congress think they maybe they should start over, or does it NOT make any difference?

How can any bill of over 1000 pages be very vague on so many issues? I would like to see a 1 to 4 page complete summary, that is understood by the majority of people, done for each bill. Then even the congress will be knowledgable.

A vague bill allows for faceless buralgrats to interpret the legislation anyway they want, as long as it is not prohibitted.
