The previous commentor said, "With all of the population pressure on the environment, it's silly for people to oppose sex education and contraception. This is not the fifth century. If these people are really pro-life they should be concerned with the well being of people who are living now."

This thinking is flawed. 1) The innocent little lives taken daily as a result of abortion use so much less resources than most of the 'people who are living now.' One could justify the similar thought in the other direction more so I believe. Since those 'who are living now' have had a chance to live, why not allow the babies to be born and remove the male who conceived the baby? 2) Were there environmental issues in the fifth century? Was there sex education at this time? Was there contraception? Whatever those in the fifth century lacked was more than likely due to ignorance. Probably unintentional? They did not have the systems we have today to control their sewage for example, so it ran in the streets. They lacked information to make appropriate responsible choices. The previous opinion writer is impossing a willful ignorance. 3)The children aren't the 'guilty' ones here. 4) And, one who is 'pro-life' could not ethically choose life for one and death for the other. That choice will have to be left up to those who are 'pro-death.'

How about if those who choose to engage in sexual relationships start taking responsibility for their actions? Now there's an idea.

Many teens and women need help and there is help. We want women to get the support they need. We want women to get the love they need. We want people to have someone to talk to and help them when they are pregnant. Please share the truth and whole truth with them.

There are many places that are willing to help them during tough times. Being pregnant is a tough time for every women and they need all the support they can get. That support is available at many websites and organizations.

Share the truth of where they can get the help: http://www.nurturingnetwork.org/clientpacket.html

Abortion is destruction of human life.

- Abortion destroys 3200 unborn babies a day in America.

- Abortion destroys 1.2 Million unborn babies a year in America.

- Abortion has destroyed more than 45 Million unborn babies in 36 years in America.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The definition of holocaust:

hol·o·caust [ hóll? kàwst, h?l? kàwst ] (plural hol·o·causts)

noun

Definition:

1. destruction of human life: wholesale or mass destruction, especially of human life

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Abortion is destruction of human life: wholesale and mass destruction of human life.

--------------------

Abortion in America has killed more human life than Hitler and at a more rapid rate than Hitler killed. What Hitler did was a holocaust. Abortion is a holocaust.

--------------------

To have a Choice:

1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).

Source: http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html

We should encourage responsibility. 93% of the time the mother and father made a choice to take a risk that might turn out to be inconvenient or a social reason. They need to be responsible for the life they started. We are not animals and we can make decisions (choice).

It's all about stepping up to the resposibility of the choice that was made 93% of the time.

93% of the time this can not be justified as a medical reason:

- 3200 Uborn American Babies slaughtered a day because of bad choices

- 1.2 Million Uborn American Babies slaughtered a day because of bad choices

- More than 45 Million Unborn American Babies slaughtered in 36 years

We need to do more for the 7%. We need to work hard to protect the mother and the child during this 7%.

The unborn baby does not have a choice if abortion is the choice.

Make Responsible Choices.

When you make a decision to have sex then be responsible.

Be Responsible.

All anti-abortion people want to ignore the simple fact that women have a right to dominion over their own bodies. There should also be a recognition that an embryo without any brain activity is no more "there" than a body on life support with no brain activity. The difference is potential. Only the woman whose period is late has a right to decide if she will allow the embryo to grow into a baby within her body.

The debate on abortion is merely opinion. Moral values are based on either self-centered, God-based or society-based non-provable basic assumptions. For the Catholic viewpoint let me exerpt from the free ebook series “And Gulliver Returns” (httå://andgulliverreturns.info) The Abortion chapter in Book 4 elaborates the pros and cons of the 3 ethical assumptions. Let me attempt to summarize the changing Catholic position. From the 13th Century the views of St. Thomas Aquinas, that male embryos got their souls about 4 weeks after conception, females somewhat later, were the standard. His was a Christionized view of Aristotle’s ideas.

The crux of the modern idea, that the soul is infused at conception, might be traced to St. Paul (Romans 5:12) who started the ball rolling on ‘original sin.’ 500 years later St. Augustine popularized the idea. But the Blessed Virgin was born without original sin, her Immaculate Conception. Pope Pius IX declared this in 1854. Then in 1870 he decided that popes were infallible in church doctrine. So was his pronouncement retroacttive?

Recent popes have generally followed Pius’s idea that the soul enters the zygote at the moment of conception. This brings with it some theological problems. Since many fertilized ova never implant in the uterus what happens to these little souls? Is God aborting them? Check the aforemention ebooks for more argumants pro and con and for a far more analysis of the issue.

The Truth about Planned Parenthood:

Did you know, In just two years there are more unborn American babies (more than 2.4 Million) that die from abortion than all the Americans that have died from all our wars (less than 1.4 Million).

Honor to our soldiers:

Suction Abortion is where they suck the unborn baby out of the mothers womb with a vacuum.

Dismemberment Abortion is where they take forcepts to dismember the babies parts and pull them out of the mother womb. They rip the legs, arms, and body apart to extract the unborn baby. Then they crush the head to remove it.

Partial Birth Abortion is where they deliver everything but the head of the baby, They then stick a pair of scissors into the back of the neck of the unborn baby to seperate it's spine. Then they use the vacuum to suck the babies brain out.

Do you support the suction abortion, the dismemberment abortion, or the partial birth abortion?

Which of the above is a choice for the unborn baby?

You write, "Conservative religious groups, including the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops"

Since when is the USCCB, which has funded acorn for years and is a bastion of liberalism, ever considered conservative?

The few high profile conservative bishops are high profile precisely because their conservativism is the exception.

It sounds like the author has a bias "Conservative=bad, ending abortion= bad, therefore USCCB= conservative."

I wonder who considers Bob Casey's bill to be more robust on reducing the need for abortion? Those who oppose contraception, think sex should only happen in marriage and must always be open to the possibility of a pregnancy and birth, I'd guess. They aren't living in the real world--but they sure want everybody else to join them, wherever it is they live.
