White House Discerns 'Need for Abortion,' But Some Disagree

"...the divided zygote sometimes recombines to form a single individual..." is a single physical human being with, curiously, two spiritual souls. Two people, in a sense, in one body.

"Viability" is a non-specific term that calls for endless difinitions - a human life is viable during the act of sexual union before the sperm and egg combine. In fact, after the vows of marriage between a man and a woman, there certainly is a viable chance there will be children.

Scattered examples of different topics do not validate, but undermine, your own arguments for what many people call 'choice'. The deciding factor of murder is whether or not the taking of a life was intentional with knowledge that a life is being taken.

Also, Roe,v. Wade was a decision of compromise - not about right and wrong. If the Court were to decide each case on its own merits, there would be no assumation of precedent. The entire idea that a court's decision in one case automatically either grants or disallows our population a freedom or bondage is utterly rediculous.

"It is my place and civic duty to uphold a public opinion as I see fit to protect the rights of an innocent child to live."

Yes, like I said, have an opinion, but keep it to yourself. You have no title or interest in the condition of a fetus that isn't your own(NOT a "child", stop perverting the issue with your language use). You have no more of a place in "protecting" an unborn fetus than you do in stopping a parent from spanking their child in a public place.

These are medical procedures that are often in the best interest of the mother. Take 2nd or 3rd trimester abortions ("late term"). In nearly all cases these are women who WANT to have a baby. They made it that far. And in these cases the mother has developed a condition, or the fetus has, that would endanger the life of one or both. Yet, these are the types of doctors who are hunted down the most.

In my personal life I'm against abortion entirely. I believe I'm responsible enough and willing to handle any consequences of my actions. But that's me. I have no business getting involved in the biological needs of people I don't know.

What really cracks me up is that (in general) conservatives are the first to stand up against abortion and yet the first to cry out against any gov't program that supports struggling families (ex. welfare).

Who, Wayne G., is the murderer--doctor (abortion provider) or patient (pregnant woman) or both? What fines or jail time or other punishment do you recommend for the murderer(s)?

What do you think about the scientific fact that the divided zygote sometimes recombines to form a single individual again? Has someone murdered one of the potential twins?

It's inane to call abortion murder when an embryo is aborted. See Roe v. Wade, which wisely distinguished between abortion in early pregnancy and abortion after viability.

Who is the murderer in a spontaneous abortion brought on by unhealthy living habits (alcohol, smoking, drugs, inappropriate physical exercise, ridiculous diets, etc.)? Sholud the tobacco companies, for instance, be liable if a smoking, pregnant woman has a miscarriage and the medical authorities deem nicotine to have been involved?

The Anti-Choicers campaign against abortion will bring about the ultimate of government intrusion into our lives, into the bedroom, into the sexual lives of all citizens. This is the ultimate in totalitarianism, national socialism, Nazism.

Yes, what Anti-Choicers will bring to us is a police state, a government that enforces their own twisted view of morality.

The only difference from a third world culture sacraficing their children to pagan gods on a temple and in a jungle and our country, is that our women do it in the comfort of an airconditioned office and they never have to see the results of their actions. When a mother chooses to murder her own child, and we argue that as a "right", then there is something very sick and disgusting about our morality going on here. And don't spew that lie that abortions are done mostly because of rape or health reasons for the mother, because those cases only count for less than 2% of all abortions done annually...the real reasons for abortions are not rape or health concerns, its to cover a persons irresponsible sexual activities...its a "life choice" of inconvienence. So, just rid the life and go on like it never happened. Mulligan Murder is all it is...

I appreciate your concern.

It is my place and civic duty to uphold a public opinion as I see fit to protect the rights of an innocent child to live.

It is a fact that most aborted children do not have genetic defects and/or health considerations to warrant their life be extinguished.

Emotional considerations when weighing the alternatives of the catch 22 involved in conflicting responsibilities usually sway the mind to error toward self-protective measures over others.

In cases involving involuntary pregnancies, whether because of inattention to consequences, rape, incest, or what have you; the circumstances of conception do not give anyone a right to remove the right of a child to live.

Right is right, no matter how you feel about it - no matter the responsibilities a turn of events may bring.

More reasons are-- to prevent "shotgun weddings," sometimes followed by murder committed by a furious wealthy in-law. McQuade seems to be a very "masculine-minded" female, acting as spokesperson for celibate bishops. Abortion is surgery that stops division of fetal cells. But to Ban-Abortion preachers it means loss of a potential tither. They depend on tithes to pay cooks to prepare their roasts, steaks and chops. No abortions--yum yum. Abortions--slim picking in monastery kitchens and homes of bishops. Tithe income pays for lobbying religious lawmakers so they''ll ban abortion all over the world.

Time to quit getting all up in arms about the semantics of it...or the wording...and do what everyone wants. Reduce abortions. And if you think there should be absolutely zip, then you also probably believe in unicorns. Because like unicorns, the idea that women will always make the right decisions or that men will keep their damned paws off women is like living in a fantasy world.

Banning something outright has never worked. There will be a black market, and then no one will ever know how many abortions there are.

Mia of WI 11:43PM June 30, 2009

If there wasn't a need for abortion, there would be no abortions. If people all knew how to drive, there would be no car insurance. If conservatives don't work so hard to abolish services that allow women to care for children, or to help Obama pass legislation to pass affordable health insurance (without spewing free market nonsense that obviously has failed us in the last eight years), women wouldn't stress out about raising children.

And I don't care what anyone says...I will not force a child to have a baby because she was raped by her stepfather. I will not do it.

Mia of WI 11:37PM June 30, 2009

Abortion is sick. Life is simple and reason is straight forward when it comes to making a decision about abortion.

Either you say yes or no to it, simple as that and be ready

to bear what happens afterwards Everything else is just

an excuse.

Emmanuel J. Fantone MD of CA 9:15PM June 30, 2009

There were 820,000 abortions in the US in 2005. I had no idea it was that many. It makes me sick.
