Gary of NC who is "not a republican":

For someone who isn't a republican (LOL) you make a better apologist than any of the other jokers in the party.

the only reason the press was/is all over this guy is because he was blocking obama's spending money. who gives a crap about a states governor. this is just a way to punish him for standing up to the all mighty Obama. and no, i am not a republican. i vote with my mind not a party

He quoted Bible baloney that must encourage "midlife crisis" hubbies to cancel their marriage vows. Wobbly men like that wear down the energy of their wives, while time and child-bearing changes female bodies. The marriage contract foresees those changes. Honorable husbands don't become unfaithful and drool over body parts of other women. Hearts are pumps. It is not the heart that is involved in "affairs." He mentioned King David. God killed Bathsheeba's baby to punish David for his dirty work that killed her husband. That was a Scriptural soap opera. In the tale of Lot, who impregnated both daughters, we see some very horrible "family values." Religion seems to de-brain people. It replaces brains with "the Brain of God."

Sanford is a pathologically rigid ideologue who has been the most inept, ineffective governor in my memory.

Some of the articles refer to his meeting citizens for 5 minutes one afternoon a month. Well, they advertise the meeting day one day in advance, so I'm sure they get a bunch of takers.

Mr. Transparent Government has been refusing to make his schedule/agenda public for years. He tried to sell the state's publically owned utility, with the help of his wife, all in secret before it was found out.

He hired a US Attorney, who let the foreign national co-conspirator in former SC Secretary of Treasurer Thomas Ravenel's cocaine case flee the country, as head of the State Law Enforcement Division. Then surprise, surprise at his sentencing hearing the judge was amazed at the leniency of the prosecutions sentencing recommendations given that Ravenel had cooperated virtually none in naming his and Mark's rich Charleston friends who Ravenel was giving coke to. Remember, Ravenel was not really a dealer, he gave it away.

There is nothing Mark Sanford in not hypocritical about.

I give Gov Sanford an 8/10 for being a self-serving hypocrite. I could care less about people's private lives until they start spouting religiously oriented family values crap. My model for excellence must remain Ted Haggert, a 10/10, who, as president of the American Baptist Convention, minister of a mega-church, and leader in the fight against gay rights, was outed in a hotel in Denver with a gay prostitute and some cocaine. The rest of you repubs will have to work hard to beat Haggert.

in the Bible for guidance, he would not have cooked up a trip to Argentina. Nor would he have allowed himself to fall for another woman months ago.

We all have temptations. But people who really are into the Bible don't make these errors. The errors are made by those who talk about the Bible too much and actually listen to it too little.

I can quote Star Wars.

do or do not...there is no "try"

Republicans seem to have a very wide stance when it comes to "Family Values". As long as they have a few bible verses memorized, it's OK to cheat on your wife, pimp in the mens room, get pregnant in high school and cheat on your wife again. No wonder they're such a joke.
