in New Jersey. AND, Corzine has correctly diagnosed that the Republicans plan to go "hard right" on the social issues in his state now and in 2010 and 2012 nationally. He is getting out in front of that which is both sensible and permissable in his particular state.

I would caution Dems though that gun control talk is dumb and dumber anywhere--probably even in New Jersey. There is NO reason to lose elections on that when mouth restraint is all that's needed. It is the reason Al Gore lost to Bush in 2000, and oh my, what a price we all paid for that, INCLUDING the proliferation of more guns of course.
