Christians Unsure About Climate Change's Causes, but They Back Solutions

Wow! That is a lot of filth you're spouting ... do you talk to your mother that way? Do you espouse to be a devout man who follows all the tenants and the spirit of the Bible? If so go back and read your post. Or is it really about who's payroll you're on? There are a lot of consultants or specialists in spinning media who spend their entire days hunting for any post anywhere that opposes their employer's postion and seek to undermine it. I'd be confident in naming you as such based on the content of your post. But perhaps I'm wrong and far be it for me to be as vitriolic as you choose to be.

I'd suggest taking a deep breath and considering that God provided this Earth ... and if we sully and destroy it in our ignorance we have ruined the Garden he has provided. This is truly a test of our faith and resolve to care for the gifts we have been provided.

van Dresser missed the point again. No one is denying climate change. Climate changes everywhere and change is the constant. Climate has changed ever since since the planet began having atmosphere 4.5? Billion years ago. Over that immense deep time, however, the planet has reached a stable equilibrium between glaciations and interglacial periods and the water vapour is part of the thermostat. Warm the planet and clouds form to cool the planet; it is just that simple. Cool the planet and humidity drops and glaciers waste away. The equilibrium position for the oceans is out at edge of the continental shelves. The last big thaw resulted in flood myths and global religions. Radical Environmentalism may be the latest, but it is built on the myths of all the rest.

I am objectively sceptical that any trace gas is anything but an effect. The inverse solubility of gasses in seawater is science the Goracle never knew. A slippery truth has circled around and bitten the true believers of the mass movement on the backside. CO2 trails warming and cannot be the cause.

The issue is now McCarthyism as a number of scientifically illiterate politicians have got onto a politically correct bandwagon and do not have an exit strategy whereby they can save face. While CO2 has risen, the global climate has cooled. The cause and effect has no correlation. It would be funny if it were not so serious. If they want to crater the economy why don't they say so instead of hiding behind Tipper Gore's skirt?

It's nice that there are Evangelicals and Catholics who accept the reality of climate change. But their unwillingness to accept what climatology is telling us regarding the mechanism of that process tells me that their acceptance may not be useful. The thing of it is, understanding needs to precede action on this problem. When Bush pushed ethanol by arguing that it would solve climate change, we wasted a great deal of time and effort, because in fact ethanol as a vehicle fuel accomplishes very little in that regard. Work the problem, people. Accept science. Stop trying to tell the scientists how science works. Stop spinning the conspiracy theories about rich renewable energy tycoons. None of them has half the money that Exxon has- and as a result our policies have so far focused on keeping Exxon happy much more than dealing with climate change as a threat to our descendants.

I wonder who was polled?! I'm a Catholic and all my Catholic and Christian relatives and friends believe global warming/climate change is an evil hoax.

Catholics should know that Pope Benedict, like all of us, wants to protect the environment, but he has spoken against the global warming hoax, which is now threatening us more than any global warming. “Fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering,” he said. "It is important for assessments in this regard to be carried out prudently, in dialogue with experts and people of wisdom, uninhibited by ideological pressure to draw hasty conclusions." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-501316/The-Pope-condemns-climate-change-prophets-doom.html

Catholics and everyone should also know that Obama and his billionaire friends have been preparing for years to further steal from us with the cap-and-trade scheme, based on the global warming hoax.

Cap and Trade “would be the equivalent of an atomic bomb directed at the U.S. economy—all without any scientific justification,” says famed climatologist Dr. S. Fred Singer. It would significantly increase taxes and the cost of energy, forcing many companies to close, thus increasing unemployment, poverty and dependence.

More and more scientists and thinking people all over the world are realizing that man-made global warming is a hoax that threatens our future and the future of our children. More than 700 international scientists dissent over man-made global warming claims. They are now more than 13 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media-hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers. http://www.climatechangefraud.com/content/view/3562/218/

Additionally, more than 30,000 American scientists have signed onto a petition that states, "There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate." http://www.petitionproject.org

"Progressive" (communist) politicians like Obama seem determined to force us to swallow the man-made global warming scam. We need to defend ourselves from the United Nations and these politicians, who threaten our future and the future of our children. Based on a lie, they have already wasted billions and plan to increase taxes and increase the cost of energy, which will limit development, destroy our economy and enslave us.

If not stopped, the global warming scam will enrich the scammers (Gore and Obama's Wall Street friends), increase the power of the United Nations and communists like Obama, and multiply poverty and servitude for the rest of us.

Could reduced sunspots be tied to temperatures on Earth?

That's what has astrophysicists and meteorologists wondering as the sun enters a prolonged "quiet period," a deviation from the usual 11-year sunspot cycle in which the dark blobs on our star's surface ebb and flow, reports National Geographic News.

And there may be a link to global warming — or, in this case, cooling. Current theories link an earlier solar quiet time to the "Little Ice Age," a cold snap that lasted from about 1300 to 1800 in Europe and North America.

During such "solar minimums," as they're called, the sun dims a bit, magnetic activity is reduced and solar storms are fewer. No one knows how long each will last until it's over.

The Maunder Minimum, a period of extremely low sunspot activity from about 1645 to 1715, coincided with the coldest part of the Little Ice Age, when Dutch canals regularly froze during the winter.

This past January, the Dutch canals again froze, for the first time in 16 years.

But scientists say it may be too early to tell if this solar minimum will really have a prolonged effect.

"There are many uncertainties," Jose Abreu, a doctoral candidate in Switzerland, tells National Geographic News. "We don't know the sensitivity of the climate to changes in solar intensity. In my opinion, I wouldn't play with things I don't know."

The scientists don't agree either

Think "global warming" is a liberal's lie to be resisted because, well, "if liberals believe it, We Don't!" or

Think man cannot actually do anything pro or con to alter God's creation anyway, or

Think the end time prophesies are coming true soon enough to make it all moot, or

PERHAPS, too many of them are listening to CORPORATE voices casting aspersions on the science to kill calls for a carbon tax.

I don't know. But even the remote prospect of flooding all the coastal people of the world OUGHT to make us all ask "AM I SURE THERE IS NOTHING WE OUGHT TO DO?
