National Day of Prayer Task Force Knocks Obama White House

I remember when WWII was going on, the president proclaimed a Day of Prayer and the churches were filled. We were scared and everyone wanted to be sure the Lord was on our side. Since those days I have always made it a practice to pray daily for our president, the elected officials and all of our armed forces. I make my own "National Day of Prayer" every day. They surely need God's divine blessings. And so do I.

President Obama made the Proclamation on April 30 and it is on the White House web site. He also was a defendant against the court case to cancel the National Day of Prayer. He just had a Easter Prayer Breakfast. IF you have not listened to it, please do--he said so much in so few words. I liked what he said about Redemption and the last words of Jesus and how that we can pray the same prayer. Someone said that if we spent as much time praying for the president and our leaders as we do criticizing them, how much better would be our country. The Bible said to pray without ceasing. Where does it say to criticize without ceasing? Some were even falsely saying he canceled the day of prayer. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." All this criticism and misinformation is destructive to our democracy. I pray that it stop.

I Do not see the heart of Jesus in some of the posts on this blog...sad but true, I am praying for those that have a head knowledge of Jesus, but have still not excepted Him in their hearts. The Glory be to God, the Almighty, True Christians, did pray, still pray, and will keep praying, praying to JESUS, because he is the only way to the throne of GOD!!! I am praying for our administration, and all those that are being led away from the one and only truth. AMEN

I am sick to death of Christians thinking they MUST be Repu blicans...and Republicans thinking they are the only Christians. Do people think that just because there is no official White House celebration, people cannot or won't pray? Also that if one does pray, they are a Christian? George W Bush was one of the biggest liars in the history of the Presidency! and yet he claimes to pray???????

Was President Obama the only president in history to not hold a White House event? I don't think so! But, everyone likes to be ignorant and jump on the band wagon to bash the President if they don't like him. Get off your pedestal! Pray if you like, I do! I will recognize the day. As for my opinion, which is not fact (like most of the posts about President Obama and the National Day of Prayer),I believe the churches of America should rise up on the National Day of Prayer, and not the government.

there are alot of people in this country that don't look to God when things go bad. The National Day of prayer is important because it signifies our commitment to staying UNDER GOD. Without God our country will fall. yes people pressure others to pray on this day, but it is for good reason. OUR COUNTRY NEEDS IT!!!

Washington (CNN) -- Some 58 years after President Truman signed a bill proclaiming a National Day of Prayer, Thursday's observance may be one of the last to be officially recognized by Washington. It is on the record that Truman signed the bill procllaiming a National Day of Prayer. Why is this white House trying to change it and say it was started by Bush. Let the record stand.

If you believe in GOD, stand up for him. Stand up for him despite the intentions of a few white wigged politicians from the 18th century. Otherwise, please don't call yourself a Christian.

Many people often say "If you don't like our country, then leave". Well, I say the same for our separation of church and state. If radical Christians (I am a Christian, btw) cannot get over this simple law, then maybe they should start a country where they can make their own dictatorship. THIS country was not founded as a Christian country, it was founded for Religious FREEDOM. That means we do not make people pray. The government stays out of it, as they should. And all of these morons who run around saying "OMG, Obama's taking away our day of prayer" are just that, morons. Thanks to our Constitution, anyone can pray whenever they choose. And yes, that even means in schools, as long it is not being led BY the school, a government agency. Jeez, people... get a grip on reality and try a little to remember all of our brothers who died for our FREEDOMS, not so we can run a dictatorship!
