If you have to do it, you might as well do it right.

hm... yeah, that's an interesting finding.

i'd like to know the demographics of who they interviewed within each particular denomination. The numbers don't seeem to add up.

But that said, Christianity in the west isn't as it should be.

1 Peter 2:16 - "Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God."

to Carol who commented on the WWJD... I prefer to look at what did Jesus do. When Peter cut off the soldier's ear, Jesus healed him.

Similarly, these 'extremists' (who by the way are just doing what their faith tells them) need spiritual healing. You can't defeat an ideology with guns, or bombs, or torture.

I would like to see a pole on who considers Water boarding torture.

We can all agree that electric shock, cutting off body parts, whipping, flailing off skin, and general beating are all forms of torture. We can also look at all sorts of ways performed in the past centuries.

Could you imagine the horror if Christ was waterboarded!!!! Common People! You have got to be kidding. Americans are such spoiled brats, we have no concept of how life was like for our ancestors.

I am so happy that the U.S. allowed torture during the Bush administration. It sends out a clear message that we don't tolerate following rules and the possession of good morals!! I water board everyone I know now!! I water board my teachers before the test so they will tell me what the questions are. I water board my girlfriend when she doesn't tell me what she got me for my birthday. I water board my coworkers when I feel like they aren't telling me everything. It's great. Water boarding works!! It's amazing. I even got one girl to tell me 2+2 = Turtle. Ha Ha!! it doesn't equal turtle, but she told me whatever I wanted to know.

Oh...and this is why I denounce Jesus Christ. The Christian faith is a sham in this country. I certainly don't want to go to heaven with those people. I will take my chances in hell.

Christians who support torture should take a moment to glance at their "what would Jesus do" bracelets and try to picture our Lord waterboard a captured roman soldier. Kind of hard to imagine, isn't it?

Carol Linden of OH 10:26AM May 16, 2009

Christianity is a torture-based religion, so to speak, so it makes sense. The God of the Old Testament regularly inflicts pain, suffering and death on those he doesn't like, in quite gruesome ways. He threatens us all with eternal torture in Hell--the ultimate torture chamber. He even required his "only son" to be tortured to death in order to save us from being tortured by him for all eternity.

Torture is a central theme in Christian dogma, so it's no surprise Christians support torture.

These results of this poll have confirmed what I have seen in supermarket lines and in doctor office waiting rooms, neocons support torturing even innocent civilians, if neocon leadership orders the torture. Listen to Hannity and Rush Limbaugh who equate torture with college pranks. Anne Coulter said she supports Bush using the US military to force all muslims to convert to Christianity at gunpoint. NOT What Jesus Would Do. We do not need a poll to tell us the truth, that neocon evangelicals find humor in torture of innocent civilians, while whining that their spiritual leader David Koresh got a raw deal from liberals. The level of hypocrisy by the neocons is monumental.

Excuse me absurd, but Bush and Cheney are evangelicals. Cheney even consults Pat Robertson, the guy who said America deserved 9-11, on issues of politics. The evangelicals made torture part of US policy, and most evangelicals support Bush on everything he has done, unless it was to help the poor and meek. I have heard many evangelicals brag that the torture at Abu Ghraib was merely college pranks. What college do these evangelicals go to where homosexual torture, beating people to death, stress positions that dislocate shoulders, are merely college pranks? Look at Sean Hannity evangelical, who totally agrees with even torturing innocent people. Sean Hannity who said that anyone who has any criticism for the president during a time of war is guilty of sedition, until Obama took over, now Hannity is calling for revolution and secession because Obama violated his evangelical values by outing the Bush/Cheney torture programs. I have not seen the evangelical Bush supporters in here saying what happened to Hrar is not acceptable, kidnapping a US ally and sending him to Syria for 9 months of torture. If you are a Bush loving evangelical, tell us your opinion of what happened to Hrar and how you think Bush acted like a perfect Christian allowing that kidnapping and torture to happen.
