Gallup Poll: Obama Closes 'God Gap' Further

Sure, you want to say Obama is a very religious man because he attended church so faithfully, but then you have to deal with the Wright issue. If he indeed was so very faithful in his attendance, one would have to wonder how he could have been so clueless about what Wright was preaching all that time (twenty-some years). I see it with these 3 possibilities. 1. Obama was NOT a faithful church attender (which makes him into a liar because he has claimed he was). 2. Obama DID attend that church faithfully and KNEW what Wright was preaching and must have supported it enough to keep attending. 3. Obama DID attend that church faithfully and he was STILL clueless about something so obvious as Wright's stance (which makes one wonder what other important issues he could be oblivious to!). There really aren't any other options. Think it through.

Oh, just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't make them one. To be a Christian, you actually have to follow the basic beliefs of the religion. My conclusion on all of this is that Obama may SAY he's a Christian, but his life shows a contradictory story. And as for the 3 options above? I think number 2 is the most likely.

I just realized I addressed my previous comments regarding the Not So Fast Comment from Gordo of MA to "Dan." Sorry about that. They should have been addressed to Gordo.

Pauline, why do you believe President Obama is evil?

Carol Singer of WA 8:17PM June 11, 2009

In the first place Dan, President Obama is a very religious Christian. He and wife Michelle were active in their church in Illinois where they lived before he even entered politics and as President, he continues to attend church and act as a Christian. Why on earth would Obama want to erode the importance of God in America? God is obviously important to him and his family. But allow me to point out that Christians aren't the only ones who love and follow God. This country is filled with people who follow other religions besides Christianity and the founding fathers after their experience in England wanted this country to not have an official religion, they wanted all Americans to be free to worship in the tradition that they believed in. And this country also includes atheists and agnostics who are also entitled to their opinion as Americans. That is what makes this country great, not that there are Christians, but that there are good people of many backgrounds who work together. For some reason people like you are bent on dividing this country into Christians and non-Christians and Obama is trying to say "we are all Americans" that is what we have in common, that is our strength.

Your belief that America is great because God has made us generous is absurd. I can name any number of countries with a majority of Christians and you want me to believe that God only favors America? On what basis? Why doesn't he like Spain or England or Canada? (to just name a few)

And what makes Obama arrogant in your mind? That he has worked hard and been a good leader? That he is working even harder now to lead this country back to prosperity and peace? You seem to think he looks in the mirror a lot. Why? I see a man who has dedicated his life to serving the people, first in Illinois and now in Washington DC. I see a man who came from humble beginnings and worked hard to become a leader in this country and you criticize him I think just because he is a Democrat and wants to take care of American's poor and those without healthcare. He wants to heal the break that has occured between America and our allies in Europe.

I don't think Obama is arrogant, I think people who think like you are arrogant. It's all about Christianity and America coming first with you. Well some of us are not Christians and some of us believe that Americans must accept that we are all on the earth together as brothers and sisters and we must find a way to live together in peace and respect each other no matter what religion or political party we belong to.

You can not be a Christian and be pro-abortion. Abortion is murder any way you look at it.

One thought.....This President is evil.

Pauline Alley of MI 12:17AM May 03, 2009

What I dont understand is we all gave BUSH 8 YEARS to "f" things up and we are not willing to give President Obama 8 months. Wake up people he may not be doing everything right but he's not doing every thing wrong either. It is what It Is.

Closing the GAP? What a farse!!! Gallup poll? Yeah, you can rely on that one!

The "faith" Obama exemplifies is of serious concern. SERIOUS.

I am deeply troubled that our republic would vote in a person of such radical record. I admit he presented skilled oratories on supposed humility and tolerance of others, supposed advocating of the common needs of our common citizens. I did not believe what he said or how he said it given his record and his hypocrital call to transparency, etc. Yet, I greatly fear our republic bought the script, presentation and hype...and, unfortunately didn’t do sufficient homework...let alone, any?

Search his record. Though we've not held him accountable to it nor effectively forecast his administration by it, he will be held accountable in the end.

And, unfortunately, our nation suffers because of the insufficient use of knowledge and wise judgment in allowing our public servants to be such with such a lack in character willing to advocate legislation which offends the God of heaven - yes, the murder of innocent children and gay marriage...and also, fiscal irresponsibility and the welfare state lacking personal accountability and prosperity.

It is one thing to advocate the individual prosperity for all in our great nation. (That is good. That is noble. That is a worthwhile effort in many capacities – private, public to some degree and non profit.) It is another thing to encourage and enable a welfare state, one which in actuality robs the individual of self worth, dignity and prosperity.)

I most sincerely pray that our republic WAKES UP and searches the record of our public servants, debates the intentions and reasonable practicality of their ideological intentions and votes to uphold servants of character and moral fortitude who will lead with faith in the God of our fathers who’s almighty hand will protect and prosper a humble nation.

We need leaders who are willing to legislate and lead to strengthen the individual, family and our society as a whole. Our inner vessel needs to be cleansed. If we do this humbly, our inner and outer vessel will be strong and able to defend against the tyranny which is all around us – internally and outside our country.

Do you think we should do better than only 1/2 our country voting for our national leader?! 1/2 at best. I would suggest many of this 1/2 are not well educated or care enough to detect the deceit of our day.

And the quote...

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free ... it expects what never was and never will be." -- Thomas Jefferson

The idiot fringe isn't nearly as large as you think. The voices of reason always get trampled out by the voices of stupidity. Call it human fallibility.

lisa of WI 12:40PM April 30, 2009

Yes brother Obama is doing the thang. Please get over it yes he has a non traditional name. Yes he believes that every person has the right to decide for themseves. I totally agree you can not lead the country through the bible and like it or not when you wake up tomorrow our President will still be Black!!!!!!

P.S. I am a Christian and I love my Country!
