The correct Latin for a male graduate is alumnus and for a female is alumna. Alumni and almunae are plural.

I'll make this short and brief.

Maybe I'm being a bit sarcastic, but what about choosing Oprah? Even though she is not a Catholic, Oprah, the New Ager, seems to claim to be God anyway!

Kmiec would be excellent. Although I often disagree with his legal positions, I respect his razor sharp intellect and willingness to listen to opposing viewpoints.

This story reminds me of Sir Henry Wotton's[1568-1639] definition of 'ambassador', written in the Album of his friend, Christopher Fleckmore (1604):"An ambassador is an honest man sent to lie abroad for the good of his country."

And Dr. Levy it's wonderfully appropriate that your from South Carolina where they lynched (murdered) the most innocent Catholics out of any state.

It makes sense that Catholics would be martyred by the same people who gave all their lives to forcing slavery on other innocent people for 400 years.

When you say "arms length" are you talking about measuring the noose for Roman Catholics like me who believe that the Holy Father Benedict XVI is our divinely ordained spiritual leader on earth?

Maybe if the Church actually did rule the U.S. by proxy we wouldn't be a country that eats a million babies a year!

I think Barack Hussein should resign and appoint a pro-life president!

Tim Roemer was just nominated to be U.S. Ambassador to India, so he's probably off this list!

Mr. Gilgoff,

Very informative piece, but alumni is plural. Pat Casey is an alumnus of Holy Cross, while Janet Robert is an alumnae of Notre Dame.

Just let Obama ignore to send a qualified ambassador to the Vatican and let him see what must happen to his administration. Obviously, somethng must be missing!
