I AM CATHOLIC I HAVE BEEN THINKING THE SAME THING. WHERE IS THE GOP? THE CONSERVATIVES OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY SEEM TO BE KEEPING A LOW PROFILE ON ALL THINGS OBAMA. WHY ISN'T SOMEONE DOING OR AT LEAST SAYING SOMETHING. I DO NOT SLEEP WELL SINCE OBAMA HAS TAKEN OFFICE. HE HAS AN AGENDA AND COME HELL OR HIGH WATER HE PLANS ON DOING WHAT HE HAS ON THAT AGENDA, CITIZENS BE DAMNED. CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY SHOULD BE VERY NERVOUS. NEED TO HAVE A VERY VERY BIG TEA PARTY IN D.C.

Deal Hudson, who directed Catholic outreach for Pres. Bush’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns. (in response to the question in the first comment)

I'd agree with Mr. Hudson. While I acknowledge the difficulties that sheer numbers pose to Republicans in this session, it's hard to defend a party that refuses to confront -- and in the case of the KS senators, even supports -- the confirmation of cabinet members who so blatantly oppose both the family and life issues.

"Rebranding" is no more substantial a change than altering the shape of a shampoo bottle. If the Republicans are going to do no more than change their image and their marketing methods, then the pro-life plank won't hold any weight.

Is it possible that more pro-lifers will be voting Independent in 2010?

Why do you say 'Bush's Catholic Czar'?

Isn't this about Obama's pick?

Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

is the only reason I would consider to vote in favor of Republicans. If they are unwilling to stand up and reveal a staunch backing in favor of life, they have nothing to offer me. The pro-death culture of the Democratic Party must be confronted if there is to be any hope for this country. What I see is abortion as Obama's answer to every problem, including the economy. This is evil in actuality and someone must have the guts to confront it.

that Kathleen Sebelius is a Catholic Democrat elected Governor in KANSAS, a place that is known for neither its Catholics nor its Democrats?

The fact that she claims to be one thing and does another is enough. She claims to be Catholic, and yet hangs around with butchers like Tiller. How can she possibily be trusted to be genuine in her work when she is not genuine in her faith?

This whole administration is turning out to be nothing but a pack of tax evading pro-death liars.

So - how many of you out there are starting to question your vote in November? Oh, not yet? Well, just give it time. Obama is going to drag this country down so low we will be begging the Chinese to help us out.

They don't know what to do. They're scared of Obama, scared of the press. They have no leadership nor central argument as to why they are better. Plus, they're gutless.

Add to it the fact they failed the pro-lifers the past 8 years by not passing any significant restrictions on abortion, euthanasia and the like. I question their commitment to these life issues.

One more point: Sebelius may not have a national history - but neither did Palin. You can get after Sebelius for her total commitment to abortion in any circumstance and her lack of effort to prosecute a notorious law breaker - Dr Tiller - who spit in the face of Kansas law time and again in his non-reporting of rape cases and partial birth abortion practices.

Sarah Palin was "treated badly" (by voters) because she behaved badly---all snark, no substance. Kathleen Sebelius has no such history, and for that reason, she is not being treated badly, even by Republicans, as they would have no justification to be doing so.
