G Powell of LA------Thanks for pointing out the quote---what is so difficult for people to understand---If Obama chooses to take us down the road of Socialism then I hope he fails ----Yes I hope he fails to to take us down that road----I think the Dems and other liberal leaning people just have to have something to blow on and on about so that we don't pay attention to the real issues----People who are willing to work and work hard to pay their own way are going to be obsolete in our new world---I wonder how many of the big shot Dems/Liberals who are telling us to set our thermastats to save energy and lessen our carbon footprints are doing the same---look at all of the Communist and Socialist governments---it's just that way---the little guy gets left with crumbs while all of the "Leaders" live like kings-----get ready because that's going to be the discription of the USA her shortly----come get your crumbs all you little minions!!!!!!

Limbaugh is first and foremost an entertainer. Not an analyst or politician. He makes his living making ridiculous pronouncements with only passing nods to actual fact. The more extreme his statements (within certain limits), the better his ratings. As for Robertson, a year ago I would have said that the sooner he retired from public life, the better off we'd all be. I'm still not convinced this newly bipartisan Robertson is a signal of anything more than his desperation to retain some shred of his former power.

Why in the world does anyone even listen to Rush Limbaugh? He's THRICE DIVORCED, a Racist Bigot, a (Former?) drug addict. He was addicted to Hillbilly Heroin (Oxycontin) for at least ten years. He had his housekeeper scoring drugs for him in the Denny's parking lot, a place where families go to eat. He got out of serving in Vietnam due to having a BOIL on his Butt! Why didn't he just have it lanced so he could go and fight for America? He has sex with prostitutes after downing Viagra pills. He's a Wussie Sissie baby Chicken Hawk! What in the world to so called "conservatives" think they're going to learn from him??? Would they have their children and grandchildren look up to such a person???

He IS being rational.

Both his positions have merit.

Was it Colin Powell, who said that Rush(& others of his ilk) should run for office, since he seems to have all the answers, & see how well THEY do? It's easy to cast potshots, from a safe distance.

Do you think Obama made a mistake calling Limbaugh out as the opposition? Like a, “woops I wish I hadn’t done that,” kind of mistake? I honestly don’t think so. Ever play chess? Rush Limbaugh is the voice of the GOP? “Hope he fails?” What! Would anyone now like to go on record being against funding education, public safety or family planning? Would you like to say something else as if CSPAN wasn’t recording this? America has had a hard day, is there anything unsympathetic you can heap on a "nation of whiners." ...maybe a great catch phrase like “The party of ‘NO’?”

The GOP’s is being set up for “check.” Ie. Who called a high speed rail line “pork?” It creates jobs now and economic growth in the long term. “Why would they tell me things I know are not true? How partisan or gullible do you think I am?” ...Like Bin Laden? ...wants to murder babies? Has the GOP gone insane? What happens to the “socialism” argument if by some chance we are “still free” in 2012?

Obama is redrawing the center. Listen to him talk and realize the underlying context is, “reasonable people over here, crazy extremists over there.” Robertson is perhaps being reasonable and not one of the extremists.

I may disagree with him often - very often. But if he takes positions that do not line up exactly on the right or left, gotta give him credit for having independence.

He is right to crtiticize Limbaugh's crass "I hope Obama fails -even if it tanks the country" approach. Even a devout right winger should not want the country to fail. "Love thy neighbor as thyself"....

He is also right to wish the new president well - any new president, and especially one who has tried not to use inflammatory speech when discussing the political right. It is stupid to form an opinion about his performance when Obama has just taken office. After a year - go for it. At least you have a real record to critique then.

Limbaugh, Boehner, Cantor and the other hard right types all use hate-speech to try to gain influence. Robertson is proper in avoiding this. His Christian values should oppose this.

Hats off to Robertson for seeing the world in more than black/white contrasts. Shades of grey also exist - and it is in these areas that we have the greatest opportunity to come together.
