You know it's about time that we get a president in there that isn't completey idoitic. With this change maybe there WILL be a change for gay, lesbian, bisexual (like myself) and transgender people. Who knows what will happen we can only watch and see! Hopefully, since he was elected by the people of this country, he'll change things for the better.

And I think its awesome that government has members of the gay community it may help our movement!

The utter naivete of thinking that one inclusive gay bishop would offset one intolerant evangeilcal extremist was shown yesterday. The Obama team, demonstrated again how very little it cares about gay lives and dignity and respect by putting Robinson's prayer so far ahead of the actual event that it was not covered on TV, and the sound did not even carry through the audience.

HBO says the Obama team told them the Robinson prayer was "pre-show". So it did not merit coverage,.

Is there a gay person left who believes that Obama can be trusted on gay issues?

Not me, that is for sure.

Openairpreacher --

When religion ruled the world they called it "the Dark Ages". I'll tell you what -- YOU don't pray in our public institutions and I won't think in your church. And remember, every time you see a rainbow, gawd is rejoicing over gay sex!

Finally, a reminder: gawd doesn't want gay folks in the Closet -- he wants his OWN people there!

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

Matthew 6:5-6

There is unbelievable prejudice in the USA against gays still as evidenced by the past century and past months. Gene Robinson is like the tiniest concession in a country that has yet to materialize substantive equality and justice for gay people.

Regarding the disingenuous bigotry and pursuit of a discredited "abstinence program" by your hero, "Stephen Lewis, the United Nations’ special envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, told the New York Times their activism is 'resulting in great damage and undoubtedly will cause significant numbers of infections which should never have occurred.' "

I know who I'LL believe, and it ain't Rick Warren and his rabidly homophobic ally, Martin Ssempa. A further quote from that article I linked above:

"With safe sex advocates on the run, Warren and Ssempa trained their sights on another social evil. In August 2007, Ssempa led hundreds of his followers through the streets of Kampala to demand that the government mete out harsh punishments against gays. “Arrest all homos,” read placards. And: “A man cannot marry a man.” Ssempa continued his crusade online, publishing the names of Ugandan gay rights activists on a website he created, along with photos and home addresses. “Homosexual promoters,” he called them, suggesting they intended to seduce Uganda’s children into their lifestyle. Soon afterwards, two of President Yoweri Museveni’s top officials demanded the arrest of the gay activists named by Ssempa. Terrified, the activists immediately went into hiding."

So much for Warren's B--- S--- about how he "respects" and "loves" gay men and women. The man is a vile, hate-mongering, money-grubbing, charlatan and a Hypochristian fraud.

Umm the gay rights movement? Explain that it is a movement with many people no two people will ever see everything the same. I would think the people that you call leaders here are more aware of the issues than the gay population as a whole. I am a gay man that has as all the others faced and still faces discrimination. The bottom line is any discrimination is un-American!!!! Obama has done more than others by acknowledging both sides! We all need to come to the table we are all Americans. We have to get to know each other and understand what our actions can do to others. Obama is doing the right thing by trying to include every one. I do think that marriage is a religious institution to many. My feeling on the matter is why is the government involved in any religious institution? I think that the very word marriage should be removed from all legal documents. It should be left up to the churches, Senegals, mosques and all other beliefs’ to call it whatever they think it should be called the union should be acknowledged by the government and it should be the same for all!! It is un-American to treat other Americans differently just because we don’t agree with them. I would also like to point out to all of the people that think that exposing kids to gay people is child abuse that not accepting a child sexuality is CHILD ABUSE, and can and many times does lead to teen suicide. So when they pray to god as they see her/him ask for forgiveness for that sin!
