The Pentagon issued a brief statement Friday in response to the shooting in a Colorado movie theater.

The Pentagon said several military members were known to be inside the theater at the time of the massacre. One Navy sailor and two Air Force members were injured in the shooting. Another Navy sailor who was known to be in the theater remained unaccounted for as of Friday afternoon.

The statement did not identify any of those service members.

Colorado is home to several U.S. military facilities, including Buckley Air Force Base, which is close to Aurora.

The statement also said that the suspect in the shooting, James Holmes, has never been a member of any U.S. military branch.
