I saw the debate on Sunday and was impressed with Brian Hill and Peter Lumaj. It's a shame that neither has really gotten their name out. Shays and McMahon have the stench of "loser" surrounding them.

Just a thought:

If any candidate SHOULD be called the "tea party candidate", it should probably be Peter Lumaj. Peter doesn't tell this story often enough, but as I understand it, his whole motivation to run started because of the tea party. He happened to be driving passed one of the many mini tea party rallies that are held weekly around the state, and decided to stop and see what those people were all about. They inspired him to try and make a difference in CT, which is why he's in the race now. Here's a man who knows what a truly overbearing government is. He and his family escaped Marxist Albania and came to America as a legal immigrant looking for freedom and a chance to succeed. Opportunities that made this country what it is today.

McMahon is the Tea Party favorite? HA! You might as well say Obama is the Tea Party favorite for POTUS next election. Linda couldn't even be bothered to show up at any of CT's tax day Tea Party rallies. She is at least as moderate as Shays, a simple look at her political contributions before her last attempt to run as a Republican should make that obvious to anyone who bothers to look. The Tea Party vote in CT will be split 3 ways between Hill, Lumaj and Westby, not that the people's vote matters anyway. It's all about who wins the convention, which is controlled by the political insiders.

Shays is an out of touch old man. He thought Abu Grahaib was a sex ring - video in his own words!

THE QUEEN of CT 11:39PM April 22, 2012

I think the passage of Obamacare has turned a lot of minds in Connecticut. Many see it as an impending economic disaster. Also, the public sector unions are losing support as the economy worsens. While data indicate slight improvements on a few fronts, people are still troubled by stores, factories and other businesses closing, layoffs, high unemployment and under-employments, friends and family members giving up seeking work and not counted in unemployment statistics. In other words, it's obvious that private sector workers and their families are struggling, while public sector workers are demanding more from taxpayers. Coupled with wasteful spending and corruption, people are looking for clear alternatives to failed policy. I believe that the Tea Party in Connecticut is gaining respect and that people are reacting to policies that leave them cash strapped, in debt, and disenfranchised.

The debate in Wateford was very informative. All 5 candidates were present: Hill, Lumaj, McMahon, Shays & Westby. Just like 2010 the media is pushing the two moderates (Chris and Linda).

Hill, Lumaj and Westby are good candidates - and not the establishments choice. Check out their platforms and vote for the most CONSERVATIVE candidate on May 18th.

Thank you to the Tea Party for organizing this event.

If any republican candidate has a chance, it is Shays. A moderate republican with a history of being able to work across party lines. Americans are fed up with the gridlock and partisanship. Unfortunately for them, the Tea Party is seen more as obstructionists and radicals than anything else. While they originally had a message, it has long since been absconded by wing-nuttery. Linda has turned a lot of people off. Pouring 50 million of her own dollars into trying to buy an election doesn't sit well with folks around here.
