Ron Paul Campaign 'Disgusted' by Jon Huntsman Video

January 6, 2012 RSS Feed Print

Ron Paul's campaign says it's "disgusted" by whoever created a viral video titled "Jon Huntsman's Values," which identifies the former ambassador to China as the "Manchurian Candidate," depicts him as Mao Zedong, shows him speaking in Mandarin and features stock music over pictures of Huntsman holding his adopted daughters Gracie and Asha.

"American values? Or Chinese?" the ad reads. "What's he hiding?"

The viral video was posted on YouTube Wednesday by "NHLiberty4Paul," but the Ron Paul campaign says it has no connection to the ad.

"Whoever did it should take it down immediately," the campaign's spokesman Gary Howard says. "Unfortunately, every candidate has supporters who do stupid things."

Paul is upset that Hunstman's family values were attacked in the ad.

"Dr. Paul is a proud father and grandfather and believes people's families should be out of bounds in politics."

Howard added that Paul "applauds" the Huntsman family for adopting his daughters and is a strong supporter of adoption.

Huntsman slammed the video during a campaign rally in New Hampshire earlier today saying "If someone wants to poke fun at me, that's OK. What I object to is bringing forward pictures and videos of my adopted daughters and suggesting there's something sinister there."

Exact same video (except changed to include support for Romney and Santorum) appears on YouTube pages called NH4MittRomney and NH4Santorum. USNews (sic) owes Ron Paul and his supporters a retraction and apology.
