In a web video titled "Unelectable," Jon Huntsman attacked Ron Paul yesterday for reported racist and homophobic statements. The video, which plays like a spooky movie trailer complete with ominous piano in the background, focuses on the Ron Paul Survival Report, a newsletter Paul released intermittently during the 1980's and 1990's.
The newsletters have become a hot topic around the Paul campaign, as some of them contain vitriolic statements about AIDS victims and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., among others.

"95 percent of black men in that city [Washington, D.C.], are semi-criminal if not entirely criminal," reads one of the letters. Another cites a "federal-homosexual cover-up on AIDS," while still another calls Dr. King a "pro-communist philanderer."
Although they bear his signature, Paul denies and disavows the letters, claiming on multiple occasions that he did not author them. This week Paul told CNN, "Why don't you go back and look at what I said yesterday on CNN, and what I've said for 20-some years. It was 22 years ago. I didn't write them. I disavow them, and that's it."

As the ad closes, Huntsman asks (in all capital letters) "Can New Hampshire voters really trust Ron Paul?" The former Utah governor has spent a considerable amount effort campaigning in New Hampshire. On Thursday, he told CBS' "Early Show," "They pick corn in Iowa. They actually pick presidents here in New Hampshire."
