Santorum Wades Into Church-State Issue

February 27, 2012 RSS Feed Print

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has added to his portfolio of controversial statements about his personal values  as he wades deeper into the culture wars. He has now harshly criticized former President John F. Kennedy for calling for separation between church and state.

It was an unexpected remark from Santorum, partly because Kennedy was Roman Catholic, as is Santorum, and JFK's comments, made in the 1960 campaign, were considered a key reason why some voters gave him the benefit of the doubt as a Catholic seeking the White House. There were many concerns from Protestants at the time that Kennedy would be unduly influenced by the Vatican, but his speech helped put them to rest.

At the start of the 2012 campaign, it was former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, a Mormon, who was expected to cause the most controversy because of his faith. Many evangelical Christians don't consider Mormonism to be a true Christian religion.

But Santorum has turned out to be the more aggressive culture warrior on religion and other issues. Appearing on ABC's This Week Sunday, he said, "I don't believe in an America where the separation between church and state is absolute."

He added:

To say that people of faith have no role in the public square? You bet that makes me want to throw up. What kind of country do we live in where only people of non-faith can come in the public square and make their case? That makes me throw up. And that should make every American [throw up].

Speaking in Detroit as he campaigned in advance of the Michigan Republican primary election Tuesday, Santorum also called President Obama a "snob" because he wants Americans to attend college. Santorum, a former senator from Pennsylvania, said, "President Obama once said he wants everybody in America to go to college. What a snob. There are good, decent men and women who go out and work hard every day and put their skills to [the] test that aren't taught by some liberal college professor to try to indoctrinate them. Oh, I understand why he wants you to go to college. He wants to remake you in his image."

It's all part of a pattern as Santorum tries to distinguish himself from Romney as the most aggressive candidate on conservative issues and as a leader who is more in touch with working-class people.

I'm so sick of Santorum trying to shove his pedophile religion down the throats of our youth!

With Santorum … one gets a pope appointed U.S. Supreme Court – scary isn’t it! Santorum should be charged with treason for conspiring to hand over control of the United States of America … to Rome!

"It is written; so therefore it shall be? We are the chosen people? Such a wicked fantasy." To see the religious lunatics manipulate government and our lives is shameful. There is no scientific evidence to prove any of the cross related bogus elements of christianity. Man goes back 6,000,000 years; 5,996,000 years before the Greeks, Romans and the Jews and 5,998,000 years pre-dating the myth of christianity which is a mere 2012 year old cult which copied Mithraism. Jesus even copied Simon who lived 150 miles from where Jesus supposedly lived! Simon was saying he was the messiah … long before Jesus and Jesus copied the idea via his cousin John the Baptist and thereafter Jesus said he was the messiah – what total bull! Today they have insane asylums for such professed messiahs. The volcano at Mt. Vesuvius scared the hell out of wacked out characters that they actually converted to christianity because they naively thought it was an act from a god. In the year 325 AD; Emperor Constantine -- who to some was the first pope; went on to fabricate Christianity with the creative historian Eusebius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge; thus allowing christianity to be accepted by the Roman soldiers whom he needed to fight his Milvian battle along side the Christian soldiers. Romans previously crucified the christians or threw them to the lions. Emperor Constantine thereafter moved to Constantinople/Istanbul to idolize Apollo and himself as a god. Constantine was basically a Pagan idolizing Apollo instead of Jesus! December 25th is the birthday of Mithras who preceded Christ and not Christ’s birthday. Christianity is basically a fiction which turned out to be one of the most hateful & evil concoctions ever perpetrated on the world. Christ was nothing but an ancient con artist! One day Bernie Madoff could be called a prophet and even declared a saint -- by a lunatic pope. St. Bernie Madoff. He was a great profit … believe it; if you may! Einstein stated in a letter recently auctioned that the bible was a collection of primitive legends. He said believing in God was childish and he as a Jew is no different than another person and not chosen by God. Many theologians state quite correctly that the birth; crucifixion; resurrection and other elements of christianity actually didn’t even happen!

The evil writings in Leviticus 18:22 against gays depict; rules for temple rituals or “P” … Priestly Rules & expanded by the pope; homophobes and religious frauds to attack the gay community and never meant to apply to the public but to priests. Leviticus exists in the old testament & torah & were written long after Moses; 600BC. Being left-handed or being gay is just as natural. Bibles and the torah which includes leviticus 18:22 should be immediately banned for promoting hatred against minorities; namely the gay community and the crosses removed from all schools and churches.
