Obama Takes Message to Local TV in Swing States

President Obama is again making a pitch for favorable news coverage from the non-Washington news media.

He has scheduled four interviews with regional television stations this afternoon to discuss his plans for helping "responsible homeowners" get clear of their mortgage problems.

Obama and his aides have talked a lot about this particular proposal in recent days in Washington. But now they're trying to spread their message directly to the regional media, where Obama strategists think they will get a better hearing. It's a technique they have used before and that they plan to use many more times in the coming months as the president's re-election campaign intensifies,

Obama will sit down in the Diplomatic Room of the White House with regional TV anchors from KLAS in Las Vegas, Nev.; WAGA in Atlanta, Ga.;, WFLA in Tampa, Fla., and WBTV in Charlotte, N.C.

All four TV stations are in swing states that will be crucial to Obama's re-election this fall.
