Obama, Democrats Plan to Tie GOP to Wall Street

The burgeoning of populist protests in New York and other cities shows that resentment over the economy is growing, and Democratic strategists are moving aggressively to show that President Obama and his party are taking steps to solve the problem while Republicans are standing in the way.

The Democratic National Committee is starting what a spokesman called a coordinated attack with the Obama re-election campaign and state parties designed to link Republican presidential candidates to Wall Street. As part of that effort, the DNC this morning released a new 105-second web video called "Republicans: On the Side of Wall Street, Not Consumers" which can see here:

The DNC also will attack Senate Republicans who have blocked Richard Cordray, the president's nominee to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The news media have been paying increasing attention this week to the "Occupy Wall Street" protests that started in New York and have spread to other cities including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington. Democratic strategists make the point that Obama is sympathetic to the protesters' underlying concerns. These strategists note that Obama and the Democrats are calling for legal protection for consumers and higher taxes on the wealthy and on big corporations so they pay their "fair share" while the GOP generally opposes those ideas.

White House officials say Americans have a right to be frustrated by the economy and the long-term setbacks to the prosperity of the middle class, such as unemployment and wage stagnation, while the rich have expanded their wealth. But these officials and many of the protesters say Republicans are protectors of the rich and powerful who also want to cut benefits for Medicare and Social Security, which would hurt the middle class and the poor.

"Clearly the frustration is palpable," a Democratic adviser told me. He added that the protests are manifestations of a larger sense of anger and disappointment that Obama hopes to channel into opposition to the GOP and support for his re-election.

The democrats created this wall st protest from the beginning. It was fueled by and organized by groups like the former Acorn. It's all just a presidential election strategy by the democrats. Now they publicly come out and offer solidarity with protesters. Wow what surprise, NOT!

The democrats are full of it as much as the republicans are. They're all a bunch of crooks in suits.

Man i really need these protest's to turn violent. I believe it will be the only way to insight change. Both sides (Democrats and Republicans) have been doing nothing but calling eachother idiots and sadly i believe both parties are right. The politicians of today are not seperate no matter how much they want us to believe they are. They are infact the same group of people, who do not care for the real needs of americans. In the end they always bring up the same subjects they always did to distract us from how badly (what they would consider the lower class) is getting hammered. Abortion, Gun control, Gay Marriage, the usual. And in truth non of us really care. "I dont care about abortion" you know why, because i am never going to get one and if someone else decides to it is there own business. I say burn it down and start over. Civil War II is the only answere that i can see. I wish i had more optimism for this country but the times have proven so bad that i and many if not most dont. Even the faces of the poloticians from Romney to Obama seem evil. And worst of all these politicians have turned us against eachother now. when is the last time you heard some have a different political association than you and you didnt at least make some kind of face or something like that. I can promise you the differences between us are not anything to fight over and can be compromised one average person to another, but they dont want that so they keep us fighting.

Its not us that need to go, Its THEM. And if we cant vote them all out and replace them with people who havent been tainted by Washington, THEN WE MUST BURN THEM OUT. i have never been and advocate of violence but now i see no other option.

If it is out there, then please speak up because this is a time when America truly needs you
