Ron Paul's Issue With Style Over Substance

The lack of polish is a big downfall for Dr. Paul, but he is pure unwavering substance.

I started reading about him after the 2008 elections. I thought he was right on a lot of things and dead-wrong on others.

The more I have educated myself I have come to the conclusion that he is being consistent in a game where inconsistency is the key to winning elections. Little by little I have come to reconcile my political views with my principals. It turns out that Dr. Paul is more often right than wrong. I called myself a conservative, but when I found out what that historically meant (a la Goldwater and the early rhetoric of Reagan) I found that so-called “conservatives” of today are shells of Dr. Paul.

The message is spot on - the messenger is a little rough around the edges, but maybe that grates us because we don't have ears to hear the truth?

As I see it, the definition of POWER, is getting people do do what you tell them to. When you say no to someone, you remove their power. Many people in high places get very angry when you say no to them. Dr. Ron Paul, often called Dr. NO, makes many of these power mongers angry, when he votes no on some of their bills. I think this is why they despise him so. In conclusion, by removing some of the power from the power elite, it goes to the people of this great nation. The people wish to be empowered once again, such is the movement of occupy wall street, among others.

"Its seems like Paul is playing off people's fears without offering any real solutions."

Actually Dr. Paul does offer solutions.........it's just that some people would rather have their heads in the sand than face reality. Dr. Paul treats people as grown ups who are able to handle the truth and they respect him for it, even if they don't agree with everything he says.

The fact is that Dr. Paul is the only one willing to talk about what he would do given the chance to be President, where the rest of the candidates give obviously rehearsed, regurgitated soundbites.

Many "Republicans" complain that Ron Paul is libertarian and therefore not a true Republican. It is historical fact that the Libertarian Party was formed in 1971 as a direct result of the socialistic price control policies of the Nixon administration. It is also historical fact that neo-Republicans have turned their backs on traditional "conservative" values like minimal government intervention in the free market and avoiding nation building abroad. That said, Republicans in general and neo-Republicans in particular need to re-examine their belief systems. Are you ready to believe Perry-Care, Romney-Care, or Obama-Care are really so different? Don't forget George W. Bush's administration directed the single greatest explosion of government medical subsidy with the Prescription Drug Program. Dr. Paul's respect for our Constitution, the rule of law, our federal system, and the restoration of sound money and a free market are truly conservative positions. He WILL get my vote in the South Carolina Primary.

If chicanery is style, then Ron Paul is full of it.

While I see many of Ron Paul supporters are really earnest, I don't see Ron Paul is so earnest. Its seems like Paul is playing off people's fears without offering any real solutions. Its s sorry thing to see all these true believers starved for something to believe in, Ron Paul is abusing that hunger.

Ron Paul's campaign is going nowhere. Unless he goes independent he's just a pimp for the billionaires who oppose Ron Paul as much as they oppose democrats.

For those Americans thinking of voting for their "Kens and Barbies", please think hard about what your choice will bring about. This is not a beauty contest. It is about who can take the bull by the horns. It is about who will steer this mighty ship we call America in a direction where our future generation will look back and be able to say, thank you mom and dad, thank you grandparents for the correct choices you made. After all, the history books will tell the story.

Sounds kooky? is kooky! If it walks like a kook and talks like a kook LOOK OUT! Just might be a kook. There was no vote to repeal. The recent vote and what Obama signed was the opening up of our military to openly gay servicemen including commanding officers. Kook Paul is one RINO who voted for it. Didn't he? Counterintuitive to conservatism which by name continues and conserves time honored values and policies.

Hello all,

I can't say that I am surprised by the tone of this article... After all, almost every single "news" organization has been trying to paint Dr. Paul as the unelectable, "fringe" candidate.

I'm not saying this article should be an opinion piece. But if you are going to quote the candidates then do it fully and properly. The semi-quote the author of the article inserted about the air conditioners in Afghanistan is an example...

Dr. Paul said that he would rather bring all the troops home and defend the borders of the US, which will result in, among other things, reduction in spending, since powering air conditioning in a tent in Iraq in summer runs around a couple of million dollars. This I know because I've been in Kuwait and Iraq in the summer, when I served as combat medic in the US Army in 2004-present...

Please, if you report, don't be like Fox "news" and play tricks with quotes. It's not funny, and you guys should know better.
