Tim Kaine: Democrats lead boldly, despite Republican obstructionists
As governor of Virginia, Tim Kaine wrestled with a Republican-led Senate and House of Delegates to increase funding for transportation despite intense opposition to taxes. He opposed abortion and gay marriage, yet he upheld the right of women to seek abortion.
That interesting résumé led to Kaine's appointment as chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
