The largest metro area in the top 10, greater Boston reports more than 15,000 unmarried same-sex households. The metro area also has a history of electing gay officials; Cambridge Mayor David Maher is the city's third consecutive openly-gay mayor, and the metro area is also partially represented by Democratic Rep. Barney Frank, the 112th Congress's longest-serving openly gay member.
